    Also, there are Russian streamers who are cheating Twitch and exploiting platform vulnerabilities to bypass the 720p streaming quality limit for viewers in Russia; they stream in 1440p60 (Source), and Twitch restricts only the 1440p60(Source) quality for Russian viewers, while 1080p60 and 720p60 remain available to their viewers in Russia despite the platform’s restrictions.Some of these streamers:
    SilverName ( https://www.twitch.tv/silvername/about );
    HYVER ( https://www.twitch.tv/hyver/about );
    MAZA4KST ( https://www.twitch.tv/maza4kst/about );
    Nix ( https://www.twitch.tv/nix/about );
    Mariachi ( https://www.twitch.tv/mariachi/about );
    GUACAMOLEMOLLY ( https://www.twitch.tv/guacamolemolly/about );
    bratishkinoff ( https://www.twitch.tv/bratishkinoff/about );
    Recrent ( https://www.twitch.tv/recrent/about );

    More Russian streamers who deceive Twitch and bypass the regional restriction on 720p stream quality for viewers in Russia — BULLSEYE ( https://www.twitch.tv/bullseye ) and JoinTheSystemm ( https://www.twitch.tv/jointhesystemm ). They stream at 1440p60 (Source), and Twitch restricts only the 1440p60 (Source) quality for their viewers in Russia, but 1080p60 is available to them.

    By the way, Russian streamers and their viewers in Russia have access to 720p60. I think Twitch should restrict them to 720p30, given how they deceive the platform by advertising their betting and gambling sites, trying to bypass stream quality limits, and how much third-party advertising they run on their streams and in their channel descriptions—which Twitch doesn’t earn anything from. What’s the point of the platform wasting resources on them?

    For example, streamer deko ( https://www.twitch.tv/deko/about ) promotes the BetBoom betting and gambling site, using an external ad widget on his stream that periodically displays the BetBoom name and his promo code “DEKO” for BetBoom. He also promotes GGDROP, which is literally a casino for Counter-Strike skins and cases and is not affiliated with Valve, the developer of Counter-Strike—so there’s no guarantee GGDROP isn’t a scam. To advertise GGDROP, he uses an external ad widget on his stream and an ad banner in his channel description that links directly to the site. The banner also features his promo code “DEKO” for that site, which supposedly grants a bonus. This is yet another example of how Russian streamers can use their own nicknames as promo codes on third-party scam sites to disguise the advertising of this whole scam.

    Another way to bypass the regional 720p stream quality restriction and deceive Twitch is to use the browser extension TTV LOL PRO ( https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ttv-lol-pro/bpaoeijjlplfjbagceilcgbkcdjbomjd?pli=1 ). Many Russian streamers in their Telegram channels distribute instructions on how their viewers in Russia can bypass this restriction and watch streams in 1080p60 (Source): they need to install TTV LOL PRO and, in its settings, disable the option “Automatically whitelist channels you’re subscribed to” (uncheck it), leaving the remaining settings at their defaults. After that, the regional stream quality restriction disappears for Russian viewers.

    I'll add to my previous comment: the essence of the bypass is that when Russian streamers broadcast in 1440p, the restriction applies only to the source quality of the stream—that is, 1440p. At the same time, the viewer can choose a streaming quality of 1080p 60fps because the vulnerability is that this restriction works only on the source quality of the stream, in this case 1440p, and 1080p 60fps is not affected by this restriction in this instance. Thus, they bypass Twitch's regional restriction on streams of 720p quality.

    Russian streamers bypass Twitch's regional restriction that limits stream quality to 720p. Instead, they stream in 1440p so that their viewers from Russia can bypass the source stream quality limitation – because in this case 1440p is not available, but 1080p is. It seems that Russian streamers do not care about Twitch's rules – they deliberately increase the load on Twitch's servers to advertise their betting casino websites and deceive the system. Here are examples of such streamers who stream in 1440p to exploit this vulnerability:
    1. bratishkinoff https://www.twitch.tv/bratishkinoff
    2. korya_mc https://www.twitch.tv/korya_mc

    This streamer zubarefff (https://www.twitch.tv/zubarefff) is still trying to bypass Twitch's rules in order to advertise scam sites related to casinos and betting. Now, in the background of his webcam there is a glowing sign with the name of the casino and betting website 1xbet, and he himself is wearing a T-shirt featuring the 1xbet logo. He is simply exploiting a loophole in Twitch's rules to advertise scams. But the most important thing is that the majority of his streams are nothing more than movie broadcasts. Why is Twitch taking no action? He streams movies to a huge audience via Twitch, just like on a pirate site.

    Seriously, is it acceptable that streamer zubarefff (https://www.twitch.tv/zubarefff) spends almost every stream just showing movies? If he broadcasts movies to a large audience, how do DMCA rules and copyright protection even work in this case? And most likely, he either downloads them from torrent sites or watches them on a pirate website, while during these same streams, he advertises betting and gambling websites.

    Relevant Update  ·  Twitch responded

    We’re happy to announce that we have released an additional update to address these concerns. Streamers can now prevent their banned users from watching their livestreams. You can find and turn on this feature in the Moderation settings section of the Creator Dashboard, through the “Stop banned users from viewing stream” toggle.

    Please note, this update 1). does not prevent users from watching livestreams from an incognito window or while logged out and 2). does not prevent users from viewing VODs, clips or highlights. We plan to explore extending the functionality of bans further, including but not limited to preventing VOD and clip playback.

    In addition, we’ve made an update so that users that are blocked will now automatically be blocked from watching a streamer’s livestreams.

    We will leave this thread open for your other points regarding preventing view of other content types and account creation.

    Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

    Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.

    We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself.  Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.

    We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.

    That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice…
