I'd suggest the broadcaster (or mods) have the ability to create break out rooms to discuss other topics while the main stream takes place. Even in smaller rooms, sometimes two separate conversations go on simultaneously - there may be an 'off twitch' event that the chatters are still interested in talking about, but they may still want to watch what's happening on stream as well.
For larger streamers (500 +) chat is hardly able to be kept up with so it seems pointless to even bother at the moment. Break out rooms would help fix this.
A break out room should have at least one moderator designated as the room moderator, so they could focus on the break out room and the broadcaster (or another mod) could focus on the main chat.
