Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads! These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. @dowski I am currently getting these ads even though I am subscribed (which shrink away once I move my mouse -- very cool and not at all infuriating experience).
I'll assume this is a bug, as I have also gotten regular ads at times, crazy how Twitch managed to fudge that up golly gee darn. If it is intended behavior this will be the straw that causes me to abandon subscriptions and instead watch vods on youtube.

Alright, so I have continued today to see more under-the-stream banner ads despite being subbed. I'm sure the mild sociopaths over at twitch/Amazon think they are "less invasive" but I would presume their UX team probably doesn't like them too much since they completely resize the stream. I am now beginning the process of removing all my subscriptions and converting them to either patreon or personal donation sites. I will also be ending my twitch/amazon prime.
Obviously you guys (or Amazon) don't care (or you would have been able to correct this "mistake" a long time ago), but for what its worth I am hoping others do the same.
It was a simple ask: I pay a sub and/or prime, and I don't get ads. There was no room for a lack of clarity or a misunderstanding. Do better for the people who are still wanting to sub. In the mean time I'm going to stop you guys taking my money from me.
