Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

There's already a third party extension that does this.
I could maybe see it being a thing in the profile card.. but I think tags or anything involving the username is a really bad idea.
To be honest I'm camp "I've never seen this issue in any chat ever." but we could meet halfway.. so profile card if that solves it for you. It doesn't impact chat visually and you can still figure out someone their pronoun if they feel the need to add it.

This issue still exists, I can't delete a thumbnail / upload a new one.

Here's what removing /me did:
Push streamers, that used /me for the colours, to tell their viewers to use third party chat clients or browser plug-ins.
That's really all that has happend.
This "announce" took so incredibly long to be implemented (nearly a year), and here we are.. still using /me with colours. Just not visible to new people on the site.
The best possible solution would've been: A on & off toggle for the old /me command. Boom, solved it for those that didn't like /me command and allowed /me for those that enjoy it. Easy. From there you can look into everyone/mod-only settings.
A quick side-note: /announce doesn't show up at all in third party chat clients. Literally making the message that's being send invisible. Just a heads up on how "visible" you really made these important announcements. :)
