It's been a month since I first complained about this. This isn't just growing pains of learning a new UI, it is genuinely bad UX/UI design. It's harder to find what I want, takes significantly more "clicks" to do anything I want, and the back button when watching a stream absolutely does no do what any user would ever expect or want, and is multiple "clicks" away from getting back to that stream. (Which absolutely violates core rules and concepts of UX across every single medium in existence, VR, mobile, web, application...)
It is absolutely insane this ever made it into production, and whoever is responsible, as in the manager in charge of overseeing this and said to make this go live, should get a few weeks of unpaid time off, and no possibility of a bonus for 2 years. (I won't go as far as to say fired, but enough time away to think about what they did wrong.) [This should only be done to the single higher up that was responsible, not the employees forced to do the work, that are probably too afraid to speak against higher ups, which clearly the UX/UI person should be part of final review, with QA, before final release too.]

I don't think I have ever seen such a universally hated update ever done to an app, that has resulted in so much outrage. Negative reviews on Google Play have more than doubled in the last 24 hours, and I doubt it will slow down as people get more frustrated.
Keep voicing your displeasure on the app stores and upvoting these complaints.

The best solution right now seems to be using your mobile browser. You can just bookmark the following page, and basically the same as it was on the app.
Funny enough, for those users who have been having issues with Twitch crashing their phones, due to cache issues/improper memory management in the app/bad programming practices, this will actually cause your phones to have less issues too. (Similar with Audible, which has a similar issue, but is significantly worse, use the browser instead for a better experience.)

How has this been the top issue for this long, and they still haven't reverted it?
The wild thing, unique mobile app users, on Android and iPhone, is down over 10%, and it has impacted unique website traffic (browser based viewers) by 2% so far, and total watch time across all mediums is down by 11%. (AKA ~$25 million in revenue.) [All data based off of datetime of roll out to today, offset by yearly usage patterns over the 3 previous years.]
So, curious who at twitch is going to get the heat for this.
Streamers really need to unionize so they can get Twitch to actually represent the interest of them and the users, instead of making ridiculous choices that make no sense that hurt them all.
