We would definitely like to give Mods a way to communicate with each other more easily, and are starting to explore implementation options.

The Shared Bans release looks very promising. I think the idea makes a ton of sense and will be very useful in many many communities.
My one hang-up is the 30 relationship limit. It seems like a lot at the beginning, but I feel like you should have a separate arrangement for stream teams. Most stream teams would more than eat up that limit. Most of the people I would want to share information with would be in the same circles so the stream team would make the most sense.
If nothing else - you make it so that partners can have a much higher limit to accommodate the members of their team - then the members can match with the team leader and then pick and choose within the team who to share with.
I cannot imagine being a team leader and having to cherry pick who to share this very valuable information to.

for some added clarity - someone commented in my community that the channel analytics page offers this as well a bit after stream ends, but it breaks it down by the day - not the stream. I stream from 9pm to 2am. So my breakdowns get split and doubled up all the time. It is still frustrating. Not to mention that I do art and game streams and it would be nice to get a clearer view of what does better.

Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

I really do believe that /announce serves a good purpose but it is not a replacement for /me. I had someone try that /me donated $100 **** when I was a baby streamer and it took me 3 seconds to realize what happened. I know that is not the case for everyone and it did a lot of emotional damage to some people. What seems like a compromise is what everyone is suggesting but not being responded to directly. Lock it to roles of streamer, editor, mod, or even VIP as VIPs are trusted members of the community. Have it be toggleable to the channel. It was one of the more useful tools available to set apart bot messages or mod messages. It was fun for raids and something people could use to have a laugh. This seems like a classic "a few bad apples ruin the bunch" situation - BUT It feels like something that was a problem that could easily be compromised on.

Well either Twitch would have to come up with a whole new system to pick who the bits go to within a channel, and then onboard them all for payment processing when they finally get $100 to payout, or they would just be getting bits to give them to someone else. That is a lot of work for mods who come and go from a channel. You could always set up a paypal link for your mods so that people could donate to them directly for the work they do instead.

I am a big fan of the Tools not Rules mentality. Offer a tool and let people decide how to use them.
If they ever did release something like that and a streamer lets their mods abuse the modchat feature - that is completely up to them. They are the ones having to pay the cost of how they run their channel. Not to mention that "Misuse" is subjective. What would be misuse in one channel may be highly encouraged in another. If a mod is misusing ANY feature - it is down to the streamer to correct them. Period. If the streamer does not correct them, that is what kind of community vibe they are choosing to cultivate. And that is okay. Not every channel is for every viewer.
How often a channel would need to use that feature really depends on the size, what is happening, and the type of community that they have. Limiting an otherwise very useful tool to people who would use it appropriately seems unnecessary.
I think there is a case to be made to have 2 mod chat options
One chat box inside of Mod view that lets them communicate just between themselves - hey I am stepping away for a few min.... watch so and so, etc - and then also have options to bring attention to the streamer. I am not a huge fan of an all in one solution. Being a streamer and a mod in channels that are various sizes has given me perspective on both sides of this issue. Many of the things I have wanted to say to other mods is not be something that I want to clog a streamers chat with, and as a streamer with Ron Burgundy syndrome I don't want to accidentally read out comments not meant for me. Because I stream I have multiple monitors, so having discord up at the same time as mod view is not an issue for me - but I work with mods that have one monitor and it is a frustration for them to keep switching back and forth for communicating.
Just give an optional window in ModView for modchat. Give a /slash command in chat for mod/streamer private message. Simple. All bases covered.
