    This "feature" has an especially negative impact on music streamers, where audio quality is so much more important and can make the difference on whether viewers choose to lurk or switch to a different platform.

    I know it's supposed to be a bandwidth saving feature, it saves plenty of it as chat will just decide to close Twitch.

    This is probably not a big deal when lurking in gaming streams, but this causes a huge drop in quality of experience when in music streams. The drop in audio quality ruins the listening experience.
