Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

How is this a partial release? That's a whole new feature.
The suggestion was to bring the colored messages back.
I can't believe you don't want to give a simple option to people. Just let us choose how we want to see the text. If there are streamers who get easily scammed because of this, they can just set it to italics.

Not sure why you can't just give us the option to set it for ourselves. We can see the /me in color in vods, so the code is still there. Just give us the option to enable it on live streams as well.

... is it really THAT difficult to make it into a setting? Let the streamer choose if they want to enable the colour for the chat or not.
We're all happy. End of story. An error occurred while saving the comment SeashellWizard commented
Is it too hard to have it as a setting?

It's the most voted idea. How can you not do sth about it???
If there is a community manager, they are doing a terrible job. Either by not pushing for this or by not explaining how much people want to bring this back.An error occurred while saving the comment SeashellWizard commented
"abuse against members of our community"? so if someone writes it in italics, it's fine. but if it's in colored text, it's offensive?
What kind of logic is this? LULAn error occurred while saving the comment SeashellWizard commented
Just bring back the color. Nobody likes italics.

That's nice, but they won't do it. Just imagine how much money they'd lose.

That's not even only for trans or not binary people. Every time I'm talking to a new person, I have to use they/them until I figure out from what they say which pronouns they would like.
And let's be honest, greeting someone by "Hello, welcome! Are you a guy or a girl?", it's just weird.
"Hello, welcome! Which pronouns you want us to use for you?" is slightly better, but obviously it's difficult to remember this for every new user. And what about the people in the chat that were not there when that person came?
Ok, after 2 years I found out that if you have the FrankerFacez extension, you can enable the colors for you. Let's all add it, and let Twitch do whatever they want.
After you install FrankerFacez extension, go to FrankerFacez Control Center (new button next to your profile button) -> Chat -> Appearance -> Action Style -> Colorized (or colorized italic if you prefer)
And if you change the obs settings, and add that you have the extension, you even get it in the chat on the screen!
