Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads!
These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. Creators will receive ad revenue for each SDA shown.

An error occurred while saving the comment OwMeSoThorny commentedAt one point in time you came up with the idea to sell affiliate status and it upset people who had to work hard to get it. This shows people that the affiliate status doesn't mean much to you as a company if you were willing to sell it.
Now the average viewer part is killing small streamers and the achievement system is this make believe goal that streamers are supposed to feel good about when they accomplish it but all it does is allow them to monetize to which you, Twitch, take a portion of what they make (if they make anything) so...
why not make affiliate easier to achieve? It would literally just put more money in your (twitch's) pockets and make your users happier while then creating a more Darwinian system where those who can actually get follows, viewers, and subs would grow and the others would fade out.

Also, consider there is now a way to boost a stream for partners and affiliates where their viewers can donate channel points... it's the same idea but only accessible by the streamers who don't need it because they are already monetized.

Instead of pre-roll ads or mid-stream ads why not but bottom banner ads that pop up every so often and hang out for a minute or so. You could also do like the NFL and do a small frame add on the side that plays audio still. This would prevent 3 of every 10 viewers from leaving because of ad rolls.
If a streamer wants to run a full add give them that option to launch it and give them a higher percentage for doing so since they are are potentially killing their own viewership to do it.
