In addition to Version title, the Platform and year of first release directly in the list of suggested titles would increase the usability - especially for games that have been rebooted / remastered.

Heya!
We recently discussed adding the ‘retro classic’ mini consoles on IGDB, likely as a Version to the main consoles. While that would help having the data for the hardware itself, currently we wouldn’t be able to have a listing of game for a particular console version. Which can prove tricky for some specific edge cases, Starfox 2 comes to mind being exclusive to SNES Mini for example.
I can confirm adding to those consoles is on our backlog as an initial step, platform Bundles though would probably be a separate task.
Thanks!

Hi. That’s cool. I wouldn’t put them as a version of the „main console“ as that could make people think they can buy that version instead and add games later. For me they are more bundles that, in addition to the games, also contain a piece of hardware to play them. I guess the easiest way would be to just create bundles with these games - no need to change anything on the database, but a policy change/addition. I would be happy to start to create the first few bundles.
Especially as SNK releases new Neo Geo Mini consoles with different games on it.
Then there is the Capcom home Arcade that is not a version of a previous existing Platform, it's more a bundle of games from different arcade systems (CP System, CP System 2 and CP System 3).
There are the 1UP arcade machines, that bundle different arcade games…holgerkrupp shared this idea ·

Hey! Excellent suggestion, in fact we have something very similar in our Backlog already, with a ‘inherit data from parent’ feature.
It’s just at an idea stage for now, but we’ll look into planning in in accordance with our roadmap as soon as possible.
Cheers!holgerkrupp supported this idea ·

Hey there.
Search in the API is indeed in need of a big overhaul, this is planned and in our backlog, unfortunately it isn’t on our immediate roadmap and therefore not currently being worked on.
Apologies in the meantime, we will keep our API community up to date as soon as work on this feature begins.holgerkrupp supported this idea ·

Hey! we had a chat about this internally and landed on the fact it could become problematic, so we wanted to double check your suggestion in more details.
How would we define the order within a series? As this could be seen either as chronologically by release, or by story. For example, MGS3 being the first one in the story, yet the 3rd one by release date. This could prove very divisive either way.
Another issue that could be problematic are differences in the order by region. Final Fantasy is an infamous case, where FFVI was released as FFIII in North America for example.
Was this the sort of approach you had in mind with such a feature? Let us know :)

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?
Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help. Thanks!
