    We apply IP bans in Chat based on users' Moderation actions in certain cases. We don't currently plan to publicize the logic we use because we think it would make it easier for bad actors to bypass the restriction.

    @Anonymous below: That only changes your internal IP if you are behind a router/modem. Your external IP will not change, and even then most Internet Service Providers will keep your IP cached for a week or so. If you "renew" within that period, you will get your old IP back.

    This will prevent people like MariboHD from follow-spamming. This user keeps following and directly unfollowing people just to get them to follow him. By doing this, he is forced to slow down, and cannot abuse the system.
