I fully support this audio-only mode request, especially since Twitch mobile already has this feature but desktop doesn't.

I'd like to expand on this idea: audio-only mode would be incredibly useful for listening in the car while driving, where you don't need (and shouldn't be watching) the video stream. This would be perfect for music streams, podcasts, and DJ sets.

Taking this further, I'd love to see viewer-side audio channel separation where streamers can broadcast multiple audio tracks (music, voice, game audio, etc.) and viewers can toggle individual channels on/off or adjust their volumes independently. This would pair perfectly with audio-only mode - imagine listening to a music stream in your car with the option to toggle the DJ's commentary on/off based on your preference.

Use case: I watch music streams like Vinyl Junkies where some viewers prefer pure music listening while others enjoy the full commentary experience. Combined with audio-only mode, this would allow resource-efficient listening with customizable audio control.

This technology already exists on the broadcaster side (VOD track separation for DMCA) - extending it to the viewer experience would be a game-changer for mobile and in-car listening.

Title: Viewer-Side Audio Channel Separation (Music/Voice Toggle)

    Description:

As a viewer of music-focused streams like DJ sets and vinyl shows, I would love the ability to toggle between different audio channels - specifically separating the streamer's voice from the music.

    The Problem:
Many music streamers provide commentary and interaction, which is valuable for community engagement. However, some viewers prefer to listen to just the music without interruption, while others enjoy the full experience with commentary. Currently, this is an all-or-nothing experience.

    Proposed Solution:
Allow streamers to broadcast on multiple audio channels (similar to the existing VOD track feature used by broadcasters). Viewers would have controls to:

Toggle voice on/off while keeping music

Adjust individual volume levels for voice and music channels separately

Default to full audio experience unless viewer chooses otherwise

    Implementation Ideas:

This could be offered as a Twitch Turbo exclusive feature or a channel subscription benefit

Streamers would need to configure their broadcasting software (OBS/etc.) to send separate audio tracks

The viewer player would include audio channel controls similar to existing quality/latency settings

    Benefits:

Increases viewer satisfaction and retention for music-heavy streams

Provides additional value for Twitch Turbo and channel subscriptions

Gives streamers more flexibility in how they engage with different audience preferences

Could apply to other use cases: separating game audio, Discord calls, alerts, etc.

    Technical Feasibility:
The technology already exists - streamers currently separate audio tracks for VOD purposes to avoid DMCA. This would extend that capability to the live viewer experience.

    Example Use Case:
I watch Vinyl Junkies (twitch.tv/vinyljunkies) and have noticed some viewers in chat mention they'd prefer a music-only option during certain segments while others enjoy the full commentary experience.
