This needs a lot more votes. Ill start this by saying that Trust just shouldn't coming with a price tag. These mods come in teams and sell trust to streamers for moderation status in their Discords and Twitch channels, get streamers to relinquish all their rules, tell them they dont have to apply them and to just put blind faith on these people to control the discourse.
Streamers PAY these people which I just can't fathom. This means, no set standards/protocol to abide by other than their own on top of the Discord ToS. This means, if a person simply doesn't like you, and they become a mod, they can perform some mental gymnastics to terminate your presence on that server. Some act like they're the only ones in the channel, and if this were IRC, founding channel ops would've reprimanded them for actions like this.
They get pretty simplord and flagrant toward users, and ruin the Twitch experience for personal reasons outside of Twitch/Discord ToS. I'm not going to name names, but they'll take things out of context just to take unnecessary actions toward users.
These servers that have no rules, it takes a special kind of stupid to think that members are not walking on eggshells. Over 3/4 of the server hardly say a word, feeling like they're not part of any conversation, and only the "royalty" of that server have anything to say at all. That or they're ignored. Its clique mentality. Thats just my observation. Then, have the nerve to say "good vibes only". Ya sure. Real good vibes people >_> smmfh
Toxic positivity left and right, which is a real psychological term.
They shame you for being real and honest. None of this is good for engagement.
Simply, dont pay these people. At all. Create your own server rules in accordance with the platform ToS. Set your own standards and only rely on people that you have close relationships with IRL to moderate in tandem with them, because these little moderation "teams" that manipulate large streamers to idiotically pay them out of convenience are getting out of line.
