Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

Wouldn't this just be a cosmetic change?... because there are probably several invisible bots in every channel. Just like not logging into the Twitch site you can read chat invisible, bots can join as an invisible user. They never request permission to do so, and can all be logged everything.
and you can't ban what you can't see. I assume the long term fix is a lot more complex than people realize.
As for people saying "so what if you get and extra viewer" - chatters are not viewers. Most of the bots being talked about will not have the video player open therefore are not viewers. They will not raise your placement based on viewers.

With the scheduled sunset of /NAMES the undocumented endpoint will probably be seeing and increase in usage. I'm sure lots of bot devs would like to see a long term/documented endpoint for chatter lists. Mostly related to loyalty points.

We’re reviewing this. Curious how long you think would be ok.

The user should make the username they desire in the first place.
Before anyone brings up "bandwidthtest=true" - Last time I used it there is no video displayed either. This suggestion is for an option that would display video on the channel for testing purposes. (if bandwidthtest=true does show video then I will suggest OBS add a button to toggle this flag )
