Additional notes.
I’ll explain why we requested the ability to configure whether email or mobile phone number verification is required, even though the “Minimum number of days since account creation” setting still exists in the channel settings that allow raids.
The accounts harassing us are almost certainly throwaway accounts. However, we don’t know how long each of these accounts remains active.
That said, if we set the “minimum number of days since account creation” value too high, while we may prevent harassment from throwaway accounts, we also run the risk of rejecting Raids from innocent new users.
We determined that relying solely on the “Minimum Days Since Account Creation” setting would make it difficult to create a healthy environment that prevents attacks from disposable accounts while still allowing raids from innocent users, which is why we are making this proposal.
