Commenting again because, the more comments I see, the more I realize that if Twitch doesn’t think gifted subs count for anything, they should give streamers the full value of the sub price instead of taking a cut. Other platforms are doing it. I would imagine Twitch probably made enough money back with all their layoffs they can afford this now instead of just putting another carrot in front of us that many will foolishly work towards and sail while Twitch collects the increased revenue at the current split percentages.
On a general note, it worries me that Twitch seems to be coming out with all these schemes and weird ideas and making so many changes… as someone who has made Twitch their main job and put thousands of hours into it, it worries me a lot for the viability of the platform.

All partners should get 70/30 or you shouldn’t have made us partners. The more things Twitch does like this, the more ift looks like becoming a partner is pretty worthless to them. Which is sad because many of us did the grind for years to attain it.

Someone in another discussion mentioned that Twitch may not allow gift subs to count because someone might “game the system” to get the 70/30 split. But how is it gaming the system when that is still real money? We have seen people suddenly get 3000 subs in one month and those people were made partner even if they didn’t have 3000 followers yet… so why does Twitch suddenly care where the money comes from? Since the raised percentage is only good for one year, if they are gaming the system, that split won’t last for long.
Or make it last only for every six months instead of a year, but allow gift subs to count as well. Also, Tier 2 and 3 should count for 2 and 5 subs in the sub count, respectively.
Also, I agree that excluding gift subs will harm everyone’s revenue. I would have to ask my big gifters to support me in a different way for the month prior to the Plus program beginning as well as the duration of the time trying to reach the 350 subs count , in order to hopefully increase the chances that some of those gifted subs might subscribe on their own… that seems like we’d all be taking a hit to make this program even begin to work. I would probably ask them to do this via a tip goal or my Patreon, not bits. It doesn’t seem this is helpful to very many people. But maybe someone with 100CCV and 120 paid subs isn’t who they are looking to reward with this program. Hopefully people won’t hurt themselves or their communities by pushing so hard for something that is not attainable.
