It's been over a month since this feature was introduced, and there's not even at least a corporate "we've heard your feedback / we're looking into this" in response to the multitude of complaints to this.
Points are still broken and can't be turned off or on, and I constantly see other people's stream redeems broken by this short-sighted roll-out of a feature.
I wrote a small essay with my frustrations last time, and I'm just worn down at how poorly Twitch handles these roll-outs at this point. At this point I'd just be happy with a toggle of some kind, but I'm convinced the reason that's not the case is because it's tied to points and there was zero long-term planning.
I don't know why I'm bothering to write this all out since it's clear that even if someone at Twitch does read it, the people who call the shots don't care, preferring short-term profit gains over long-term stability that's going to continue to damage Twitch as a platform.

I've spent a lot of time cultivating a specific look and feel for my streams, and making it so that per-scene redeems appear at the top of the list to make them easy for people to find.
That's been completely destroyed by this miserable feature that wasn't asked for, can't be turned off, and shoves Channel Points downward in favor of promoting Bits.
Like comments made by many, MANY others, I want to be able to present my streams in the way I intended and provide fun ways of interaction for friends, community members, and those just stopping by. The absolute last thing I want is for people to feel pressured into spending money to be seen, or actively disrupt the stream, or otherwise add unintended effects that can't be turned off and ruin the cultivated experience that I've worked hard to create. Since I can't turn this off, I've made all of them the maximum amount (10,000 bits) and changed the icons to discourage people from using them.
That's not even getting into the obvious potential for abuse where someone can try to bypass checks to have a rude message, or an inappropriate "gigantified" or "celebration" emote that's completely out of the streamer's control or done at an inappropriate time. As of this writing, Power-ups have also disabled the ability to turn Channel Points on and off. Regardless of the reason(s) why, this reads as Twitch keeping people from disabling Points and Power-ups in protest because these two things seem to be tied together.
This was a system that was rolled out with a clear eye on generating more money for Twitch and little to no consideration for the people that use Twitch's services. Even then, not all of us are interested in making money off of Twitch - or, really, expecting to make money off of Twitch. This scheme of adding a new "feature" that actively damages the core product also damages Twitch's relationship with streamers and viewers alike. Considering this jumped to the highest number of votes on UserVoice in just a day or two, this feature, and any others on the roadmap that don't allow users to have a say on what does and doesn't affect their stream, should be seriously reconsidered.

Guess I'm back here again.
Gonna say it again, chasing short-term profit gains over long-term stability will continue to damage Twitch as a platform.
If anyone *at all* from Twitch actually reads these things, I'm sure it's not the people who make these awful decisions. But it's worth repeating that the Power-ups system (totally coincidentally, I'm sure) broke the ability to turn Channel Points on or off for well over a month, anecdotally they seem to break redemptions from other services and Twitch chat itself, and there's been zero response from Twitch in any form. You could at least tell us that you won't be changing it or offering a toggle. There was clearly enough recognition to stop people from changing the icons after a couple weeks, so someone knew something was up. The silence speaks volumes.
Maybe listen to people who aren't your top shelf for once. The *even larger* vertical banners that push Channel Points further into obscurity and inability to turn it off, presumably EVER, makes it clear that Twitch doesn't see the people who use their platform as anything but a source of money.
