The last time twitch did this (with global emotes) I cancelled some of my subs and switched over to patreon. This time I'll be doing it for every remaining sub I have, and encouraging those without patreons to start them.
If you won't respect your creatives, at least I will.

I'm an artist who has streamed creating art on twitch before, and would do so again if I believed the platform had any respect for creatives.
I don't believe the platform has any respect for creatives though. Stuff like this is a big part of why.

I dislike it when the justification for decisions like this is "it only affects 0.5% of users" when that 0.5% of users is producing the majority of the content on the site.
It's a deliberate mis-use of statistics for disingenuous gaslighting, for the sole purpose of pretending like the impact of such a decision will be minor. The reality is that twitch is screwing with its core content creators simply to save a few pennies in storage.
Forcing your core content creators to build archives on competing services is not a sound business decision.

I'm already disgusted that Twitch uses gen-AI for it's category icons and for some emotes. ESPECIALLY the art category. As an artist who used to stream my process here, it's really sickening to see the company using gen-AI to represent art and artists in any capacity.
I am currently gearing up to start making videos again, streams and tutorials and process videos. I'm a Twitch affiliate, but I won't host or stream my content here while the company keeps pushing this unethical garbage on the userbase.
If you implement these features and enable them by default, I will cancel all of my remaining subs and move my support of my creator friends to patreon. If you don't respect artists, I will.
