As mentioned earlier today on the TwitchDev Standard Output broadcast, we are moving this suggestion to "planned." We appreciate everyone's patience with this one. Although it sounds simple and we see the value, there were a number of underlying complexities to consider before we had confidence in a path forward and providing a response. We will provide another update when the endpoint is available for testing.

This also applies to timeouts. Timeout reasons should be shown on mobile as well.
Furthermore, timeouts should be clearly displayed to the user. The only indication users currently have is seeing their past messages disappear, but this is hard to notice, especially in fast chats, with a lot of messages scrolling by.
There should be at least an info message in chat explaining that they have been timed out, adding the duration of the timeout and the reason if the moderators have provided it.
The message input bar, where chat messages are written into, stays unlocked when timed out. It should be disabled instead, serving a clear indication that they cannot type any further messages. The text inside the input bar can be replaced with a horizontally scrolling message explaining the timeout like the info message I proposed in the last paragraph.
The current system of being able to send messages despite being timed out allows users to be ignorant of the timeout, as the info message "You are timed out for x more seconds." you receive when sending messages during timeouts is also hard to notice, especially in chats that move extremely quickly.
