This experiment is now closed as the new mobile redesign is rolling out to all users. Thank you for all your feedback during the experiment. We released an update to respect your autoplay settings in the feed, muted the feed on open by default (you can adjust this in your settings), and added mute functionality directly to the feed to give you more control over your viewing experience. We also enabled PIP over feed and have been continuing to improve app performance since launch. Learn more about the new app on our blog and continue to share feedback with us on the improved experience in the mobile category on UserVoice.

The new app UI is infuriating, and I don’t even want to use the Twitch App until the auto-play full screen stream feature disappears. There’s no way to pause or mute the stream, either. Its quite disorienting. When I open the app, I want to see everyone I am following that is live. Not be thrown into one of those streams at random. I don’t understand why the app changed so much, but this was not the right direction.
I would the ability to block certain tags so streams using those tags don’t show up for me. Everyone has different preferences—streamers can stream whatever content they want within the confines of Twitch’s ToS, but viewers should be able to further refine what is recommended to them. Especially when content creators don’t consistently use the proper warnings (sexual content, drug/alcohol use, gambling), so even if you have these filters from Twitch applied to hide or blur content, the platform can’t even screen the streams out properly because streamers use tags to gain viewers regardless of whether they truly disclose the nature of their stream content to Twitch.
