As an artist and streamer of four years whose most active Category has always been Art, this is deeply disappointing to see. Twitch has an entire Artist & Makers club filled with incredible creators who would love an opportunity to assist with this update.
I don't understand - after the public response to the global genAI emote rolled out last Dec - why Twitch is choosing to go down this route again. It absolutely causes me to lose faith in their support of artists and creatives as a whole. This behavior is impossible to defend, and if it keeps happening will turn people away from the platform.
As a reminder, generative AI usage not only destroys the environment, but also the livelihood of creatives it steals from worldwide. For a platform that is meant to uplift us to enact this change quietly, it sends a confusion contradiction. Please also see the harm against marginalized communities that genAI has known to cause, as recently evidenced by Epic's new Fortnite Darth Vader genAI concerns.
Twitch needs to make a united stance against genAI and stop playing around with behaviors that are dangerous to its own communities. This doesn't help ANYONE.

Hi, AuDHD artist with CPTSD and chronic Lyme Disease! I'm organizing a Disability Pride Month raid train to help bring more voices forward but it should NOT be the responsibility of the community to do this alone. Please help our voices be heard. There are so many of us whose entire livelihoods are Twitch bc of our disabilities. And to be ignored by the very platform you rely on to get through every day...it's rough.

How many times do we have to tell you we don’t want genAI in our spaces??? Only so many times before we boycott the platform entirely.
