As a moderator for a streamer that is curated to an 18+ audience without being explicit but would prefer not to have children in their streams or community, everything Spri has laid out above is sensible and rational and is more than enough reason to consider a blanket maturity tag.
This shouldn't be a large ask. Just because a community is not curated for explicit content, does not mean that it is appropriate for children to be part of that space. Many streamers do not feel equipped to take on the burden of having younger viewers in their spaces and it can be extra work for mods as well. Please actually listen to your users in this case. This system clearly needs to be better fleshed out than it has been at launch.

Exactly what purpose does this feature serve? Streamers already use offsite tools to manage collaborations more efficiently and can more easily minimise the risk of someone abusing a feature to land the streamer in hot water, simply by setting up a private Discord server and using permissions effectively.
So far, the only potential use case that the CEO has been able to cite for this has been the nascent Twitch DJ program, but the vast majority of streamers aren't radio stations; they don't have a team of call handlers or call screeners to filter out the people who will inevitably use this to troll and disrupt the broadcast or try and get a streamer banned.
Can we please just stop and think first before rushing out new features. You must have a User Research team or a Service Design team of some sort, even after the latest round of layoffs. Start to think about how developer time can be better put to use by giving existing features a little TLC, rather than just releasing new ones that no-one asked for and will inevitably be depreciated after less than a year when they fail to gain any traction.
