Yes! And also - to echo Emi’s recent comment below, I also agree that having gift subs count perhaps as 1/2 a sub point instead of a point for purposes of the Twitch Partner Plus program could be a potential solve here. Twitch may be trying to encourage engagement by excluding gift subs, but it is important to remember that gift subs also drive engagement - most of my own subscriptions to other streamers came from continuing gift subs - including Emi’s! Do it, Twitch, it’s worth it! Make gift subs count!

I agree that gift subs should be included in some way in Partner Plus!

This is an outstanding idea - I concur with Finamenon and Ash that having a retro twitch creator club would go a long way to foster collaboration and encourage more people to throw their hat in the ring to stream retro. I'd like to support here any way I can.
