I'm running into this too — I'm a Twitch streamer building a companion app to manage my channel's team roles (Moderators, Editors, Lead Moderators). Moderators already support GET/POST/DELETE via Helix, but Editors are still read-only (GET /channels/editors), so this has to be done manually from the dashboard every time. Would really appreciate this getting picked back up — it's been open since 2023.

Adding a concrete case for this. Right now, to add a Lead Moderator I have to go into the Creator Dashboard every single time - there's no way to do it programmatically. With an API endpoint I could assign a Lead Moderator directly from my own tools, without opening the dashboard at all.
On top of that, Twitch already lets Lead Moderators run /vip and /unvip in chat without any broadcaster involvement, so that permission model already exists - it's just not exposed via Helix. The /moderation/bans endpoint already proves this pattern works: it accepts a moderator_id and lets a moderator authenticate with their own token instead of the broadcaster's. The same approach could apply here.
I'm a Twitch streamer building a companion app to manage my channel's moderation team, and this dashboard-only limitation is the main blocker - everything else about managing my team can be automated except this.
