    So, after almost 5 months, there has been a positive improvement. My app (build ID sst-6cf130e/mt-c/fuchsia) now shows me my followed categories and followed offline channels in addition to followed live channels. That's good! We can also see far more categories in Browse, and far more streamers within a given category. We are no longer limited to the 50 or so highest view counts. (Also, the browse pages seem to no longer be sorted by view count, which makes smaller games/streamers easier to find.)

    As far as I can tell, though, many features remain missing. Still missing at this point:

    * Chat still missing from VODs
    * Raids still broken
    * VOD seeking still very hard to use
    * Can't dismiss overlay manually
    * Too many clicks to show chat (including having to move past the huge Unfollow button)
    * Opening the traffic-light menu while watching a VOD and clicking Go Back loses your place in playback

    So, it seems things are moving. I hope that Twitch is listening to its customers and that the fixes continue to come.

    And yet ANOTHER another thing. Raids are broken.

    I typically have the Fire TV app and a browser window (with video paused) going at the same time so I can easily chat on my browser while having the stream on my TV. When a streamer raids another channel, the browser connects to the new channel, but the app simply says "This stream has ended."

    Really? Raids just don't work? A core feature of your platform is broken in your app, and you released it like this?

    Something else I've just noticed...the UI for scrubbing through a VOD (seeking back and forth) is completely unusable. When trying to scrub through an 8-hour VOD, you can either move ten seconds at a time (by tapping the forward/reverse buttons quickly) or a couple of hours in an instant (by holding the button down for any length of time). This makes it impossible to scan by a few minutes at a time or have any hope of narrowing down on a specific part of a VOD. Did anyone attempt to use this app before it was shipped? Why was the perfectly servicable scrub UI (in which pushing forward/backward increased/decreased the seek speed by 2x) abandoned for this nonsense?

    I was shocked by how much functionality was unceremoniously removed. It's not just that the app doesn't show non-live content; at most only 40 live streams per category are surfaced in Browse, making it impossible to discover smaller streamers. Further, only 80 categories are surfaced in Browse, making it impossible to navigate to games having fewer current viewers. This is simply awful and I cannot fathom the reasoning that went into such a customer-hostile change.
