    I also have this issue. chromecast ultra, wired ethernet. Please look into it - it worked about a month ago without issue, started having this issue maybe 2-3 weeks ago. Also worth noting, the Chromecast is supposed to automatically adjust quality, and you can't specify the playback resolution through the source video (if casting from Chrome) - so I don't think it's accurate to say it's 1080p only. Even if I choose 360p and then cast it, it would auto-scale based on network quality.

    Chromecast with Google TV devices don't have this problem (I have 2 that play just fine without stopping every 1-2 minutes.)
