Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

May we please have an update to this. 5K+ votes, 500+ comments, 3+ months, and nothing I've seen but radio silence from Twitch on the matter. Are updates posted elsewhere?

It's almost always a good idea to be kind as it costs nothing or next to it. We should do what we can to avoid hurting others. If you don't like the idea of being kind or respecting others' identities, maybe just move on or start your own uservoice about something important to you. We don't have to demean others to make ourselves feel better.
Twitch should either offer an in-house option for preferred pronouns to be visible to those wanting to see them or promote one of the plugins which already do so.
