This experiment is now closed as the new mobile redesign is rolling out to all users. Thank you for all your feedback during the experiment. We released an update to respect your autoplay settings in the feed, muted the feed on open by default (you can adjust this in your settings), and added mute functionality directly to the feed to give you more control over your viewing experience. We also enabled PIP over feed and have been continuing to improve app performance since launch. Learn more about the new app on our blog and continue to share feedback with us on the improved experience in the mobile category on UserVoice.

The update is immediately frustrating. Auto playing something before I even decide to click on a channel on the home page. Putting followed channels in the collapsible menu instead of a dedicated tab feels bad since before I at least had a thumbnail to get a general idea of what they're doing when deciding what to watch. Scrolling up and down on that screen to see streams feels bad since I don't know what the next of my followed it's going to show, and there are ads that display between them (an extremely easy way to make your users hate this feature). Also before if I was watching a stream, I could minimize it to the bottom with the down arrow in the top left of the screen and have it still play while looking at my follow list. Now hitting that same arrow just closes the stream and opens the new home page that immediately plays a different stream I didn't select (or the same stream in some cases). This feature just seems really bad for where it was implemented and doesn't really feel great for streams which are long content (tiktok or YouTube shorts are fine for something like this). If anything use this just for clips and you may have something.
