Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

This is such a great feature. I love Moments a ton and I wish more creators had access to them. Please reconsider getting rid of them. They make the community experience of notable moments on stream even more fun.

Moments were incredibly fun when they were used. I don't see the value of scrapping a feature that was already working for ??unknown?? features when they could just try and revitalize this one by encouraging streamers to use it. Send em a notification on the dashboard or an email or both.
It just feels like a complete waste to scrap it.

moments is such a charming feature and it would be really sad to see it go

Moments are such a cool feature, and as a viewer, I really like having a moments badge for the different "I was there" moments. There's been plenty of streamers I've watched that have had so many good moments but have not had access to the beta, and they have even reached out and asked for access and were denied by twitch support. This has been a sought out feature for many creators, and it's a shame to see such an amazing feature get axed before it even got to be used by the creators that would benefit most from it. Please do not remove this feature, and expand it so partners and affiliates can use it, as the very limited pool has kept the feature from really shining in the communities that could benefit from it most.

I don't watch twitch as often as I used to but being there for a moment is always special. It's also great when chat and the streaming bicker on if something should have been a moment or not. It's nothing but stream value guaranteed

As a creator that didn't get to test it out on their channel, but instead partook in it within other streams, I wish I had it available for my community.
Moments that loyal viewers could look back and laugh/cheer about is such a vital core of community building. I believe if this program was pushed out to more channels with more encouragement/explanation on how it can be utilized, it would become a Twitch standard.

Much like the since proven successful Twitch feature, Channel Point Predictions, the Moments feature has ample opportunity of promoting community growth site wide.
From moment recollection to audience engagement, removing this feature feels like it would be a tremendously unfortunate blow to what has potential of being another home run.

This is such a great interactive feature for the community, instead of removing it, it needs to be expanded upon. Removing this would only hurt streamers, chats and a unique tool that helps keep twitch different from other streaming services

Moments are a fantastic idea as a simple way to engage viewers, one that never even got the *chance* to shine with the wider audience since most streamers didn't have access. It deserves to be given another chance (with a wider rollout) before judgement is taken on it.

This feature has shown so much promise in the channels that understood how it worked. It is Twitch's job to educate and promote features to users, but in spite of Twitch, many creators made it work for them and their communities to great effect. Seeing this feature be so successful, many creators (myself included), eagerly awaited the feature being released to a broader audience. It is Twitch's job to make these features available to creators in order to judge their viability, but like so many times before, valuable features are sunsetted before they ever have a chance to see success.
The benefit of moments is with user retention, interaction, and engagement. It gives viewers a reason to stay around, to come back, and to get excited to share great moments with the community. The only reason I can think to remove this feature is because it wasn't monetizable. If this feature does get removed, it will strongly and decisively reinforce the idea that Twitch has no interest in supporting creator engagement tools, because you have a feature here that has a proven track record to work that you are killing while people are demonstrably excited about it.
It only takes a few minutes to scan through the replies to *Twitch's own tweet* about removing this feature to see that everybody falls into one of two camps: 1) people who are heartbroken that a good feature would be removed, or 2) people who didn't even know this feature existed. Both of these are exhausting and all-to-familiar unforced errors on Twitch's part, which is only more disappointing because all you would have to do to make everybody happy is roll out the feature to the other 95% of the platform who are or would be excited to use it.

This is honestly one of the best features Twitch has implemented in years and so few streams actually got access to it (and fewer fully understood how to use them). Moments drive a ton of engagement and I feel that it would be a mistake to get rid of them.

As a viewer, moments can be compared to a digital collectible that is rewarded for consistent viewership. This rewards engagement in its simplest terms and can encourage further engagement (whether its a subscription, following more channels, etc). I think this was one of Twitch's greater ideas over the years and it was just simply under utilized and a lot of creators I follow didn't have the chance to explore this feature to apply to their own communities.
Moments is an extremely underrated feature that did not get the opportunity it deserves as it was very limited to some creators. Please keep moments and give it to more creators for its time to shine.

For a moment like this, some people wait a lifetime. But we didn’t have to. Please don’t take this moment from us.

Absolutely one of my favourite features theyve pulled out over the last year i have so many moments in the streams i watch and i love them so much being able to go and look back over the history of the stream. They just needed to push it out to more people and make the communication around it clearer. Ive lost all hope for this site if they remove it.

why get rid of a feature that doesnt harm the site to keep and brings fun memories to those who engage? its great to checkmark accomplishments and as a viewer i love when im around to be there for a big moment, especially when its a moment that takes someone two years of their life and a blissey to achieve. L move if they get rid of it. twitch is for creator and viewers to have interactions and engage in content so why remove it?

This feature does bring a ton of value, I think discontinuing it needs to be reconsidered and instead release it to either a larger group of people or just a full release to really see how it is received. Viewers love this feature in my community and I think it’s a huge mistake to get rid of it
