I like Brushforhire’s idea as well because it keeps us together in the sense that everyone is streaming artistic/creative endeavours. And I feel that it is important to acknowledge, again, as many have, that no genre of art/creative design is less than or better than any other. Many artists stream both traditional art and digital art. And many traditional artists can be found enjoying digital art streams and vice versa.

Though I am unsure about if creating sub categories is as easily feasible, at this time, compared to creating separate categories, as from my understanding there are no subcategory divisions on Twitch but in replace tags are used to help viewers find content. But clearly the tags are not working well in these cases.

Many people in this thread have commented the differences between Graphic Design vs. Digital Art or Sculpting vs. Woodworking is also noticeable, so again, a clear message that delineations that are more user intuitive are needed.

But through all the differences, the consensus is the same: not having a clear and easy way to to classify yourself and thus have a clear and easy way for viewers to find you is hampering the community from connecting and also growing, leading to people leaving the platform for other platforms or not even considering Twitch a viable platform at all. But clearly it was a viable art streaming platform in the past, and by solving this one issue can be again.

I have been in the twitch art community for about 18 months, specifically traditional art. And every day (not kidding) traditional art seekers lament on stream and in chat about having to sift through so many digital art streams to find the traditional art streams.

Though both valid art mediums, the difference between digital vs. traditional vs. within the traditional (physical/hands on art) community (ie painting vs. fiber arts) is vast not only in the on screen vs. physical aspect, but in the general community vibe and focus of the two artistic areas.

But most clearly what separates the two is that both communities seek themselves out to learn techniques and about the mediums. Though digital art is beautiful and often astounding, I am not going to gleen much about how to create physical art and integrate that information in my own creative processes from watching a digital artist create art. And vice versa for a digital artist.
