Things like this only reinforce the impression that Twitch is massively out of touch with streamers.

If the reports that Twitch is considering using streams to train generative AI are true, it may well be the single most out of touch thing the company has ever done, and I fear for the long term stability of this platform, which I love. It also opens up a TON of questions.

Generative AI is *actively* harmful to the types of creative people who make Twitch possible. GenAI Models trained on art are being used to replace artists. Models trained on music are being used to replace musicians. Models trained on code are being used to replace coders. So what would a model trained on streams be used for, exactly?
And a model trained on such disparate streams as you see on Twitch will yield unpredictable results. Some streamers swear heavily, some make innuendos, some are very kid friendly. Will streamers be encouraged or even required to tone it down to youtube levels of kid friendliness, to ensure the model behaves?

Finally - it's no secret that the genAI industry is a bubble that's waiting to burst. My personal opinion is that it's more like a pyramid scheme, and companies getting in at the bottom are suckers, but my point is - is it smart to pour money into this, at a time when the price of the required hardware is ridiculously high, for an unknown benefit, while making both your viewers and creators mad at you? I dearly love the communities I've discovered on Twitch, but if they decide to move to another platform over this, I'll be going with them.
