We have heard the feedback in this idea & its comments and reworked chat replies to reduce noise. By allowing users to reply directly to a specific message in a thread, only the user being responded to will be @'ed, rather than the user whose comment initiated the thread. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sephiroth commentedI have to agree with this. Being forced to automatically join a raid when initially it was opt-in is really annoying. Getting so tired of coming back to my PC after having to step away only to find myself in someone else's channel who I don't even know half the time.

Chat replies is a waste of developer time. Its cumbersome, not necessary and not needed in 99.9% of use cases. Revert the changes, fire whoever decided this needed to be a thing and redirect developer effort into fixing problems with Twitch and not wasting time on unnecessary features.
