Hey! There is very much a need for this absolutely. However it wouldn’t be a simple implementation at this point of time.

We’ll definitely stay in touch when we proceed forward!
    thanks

I agree. You are able to click any category listed at the bottom of the Karma Hunters page to focus on the type you want, like Missing Screenshots, Covers, Story, Websites, etc., but each of those pages like results in alphabetical order only. Where as the Karma Hunters pages grabs examples of each at random.

It would help focus efforts greatly if you could sort results by traffic, followers, played, want, release dates, etc.

Either this was always there and I failed to notice it, or it's recently changed. Either way I can't delete it so I just flagged as inappropriate and removed my vote.

Hey! we had a chat about this internally and landed on the fact it could become problematic, so we wanted to double check your suggestion in more details.
How would we define the order within a series? As this could be seen either as chronologically by release, or by story.

For example, MGS3 being the first one in the story, yet the 3rd one by release date. This could prove very divisive either way.

Another issue that could be problematic are differences in the order by region. Final Fantasy is an infamous case, where FFVI was released as FFIII in North America for example.

Was this the sort of approach you had in mind with such a feature? Let us know :)

Totally understand the concern. It generally becomes a problem when you have series that either abandons the numerical release like GoW, or titles that pick and choose their timeline events like the dev's example of MGS3 or Street Fighter IV-V.

I would actually like to have both, but in a sense we "should" already have sequential release in the data, so long as the release dates are entered correctly and the Series is tagged in each title. We simple lack a visual UI that displays it. (Like a link that currently states if a game is an Expansion of X Title, but for Series.)

The only thing that I see that would require extra attention would be like in your FF6 vs FF4 situation. In that case for chronological timeline, you would probably want to omit "Versions" and go off the original release.

Something like the following link would be preferable, but would probably have to have some sort of toggle between sequential release and story timeline.

    Hey!

I can confirm this is definitely in the works. When we switched to Twitch logins after the acquisition we had to terminate our own user upload feature for safety and privacy reasons. The current plan is to add the ability to sync your IGDB profile Avatar & Banners with your Twitch profile, so it would be one seamless account across both.

Adding extra to the profile itself is something we very much would like to do, some work has even already put into this. Unfortunately however this isn’t currently on our roadmap and priority list for the short term. But soon!

    Thanks!

    Hello!
We are looking at redoing our company data taxonomy, part of which is possibly adding several ‘layers’ to companies, such as Divisions for example.

Companies are a bit lacking at the moment as we historically have been focusing on Games, but we gradually intend to start giving them more love :)

    Stay tuned!

As I was editing the God of War series, I was noticing many entries would go with the "popular" name of the dev or publisher, and didn't use the correct name at the time.

    Sony Computer Entertainment Inc (1995-2016)
    Sony Interactive Entertainment (2016-current)

    SCE Santa Monica Studios
    SIE Santa Monica Studios
    Santa Monica Studios

This might be something that could justify attaching a date to the company name, as some titles do in various menu options for bundles and others.

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?

Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.

    Thanks!

Oh, I forgot the other content check for these and Japan was no characters (or hands in general) can have 4 fingers. Disney gets away with this buy paying out HUGE permissions for games like Kingdom Hearts, but they are the exception. And in that vein (at least recently), I'd assume anything concerning Winnie the Pooh would also be cut from titles that would be released in these regions.

So, I can't say there are direct and distinct differences in a CN title versus HK/TW other than the default language on first boot, but I can tell you I have never worked on a direct CN release in 8 years for the stated reasons, only overall Asia releases (SCEAsia/SIEJ-Asia), HK, or TW.

For posterity, titles on PS3 did not go off the system language when deciding what language to display on first boot. Each region had a "default" for their SKU. (HK - Simplified CN, TW - Traditional CN, KR - Korean, etc.) This of course changed on PS4 where they looked to mirror your system settings rather than what region the disk was. (At least I think I'm remembering that right).

Sure. They are different, but only in their official release region data. HK's required languages are CN Simplified, CN Traditional, and English. TW is mostly Traditional Chinese and English, and sometimes either may include Korean as well. The biggest difference you'll encounter though is many games attempt to minimize things that are taboo in China, such as exposed bones or skeletons. Those in particular were removed from our game's HK version, as well as what delayed WoW Wrath of the Lich Kings release in those regions. This content check is now virtually required for any title released in those regions, and I can confirm that most of the titles from Sony include an HK version at minimum.

Immediate examples that come to mind are ModNation Racers and LittleBigPlanet Karting (both of which I worked on) as well as the Southeast Asia version of Phantasy Star Online 2. You generally won't find entries for these versions on sites like Wikipedia due to the high western audiences of the site, but you can find their PSN releases on the PS Store. The only requirement is having an HK or TW PSN Account to log onto and access them.

Hey! Excellent suggestion, in fact we have something very similar in our Backlog already, with a ‘inherit data from parent’ feature.

It’s just at an idea stage for now, but we’ll look into planning in in accordance with our roadmap as soon as possible.
    Cheers!
