At this point it's been 7 years in review without an update, maybe a better approach would be to let people use some additional special characters in their usernames such as '-', '.', '/', '+', etc in addition to the '_' we get now.
Besides that there's so many twitch users at this point it might be worth considering doing what other platforms like Blizzard Battlenet and Discord do and add a 3 or 4 digit discriminator number to every user so even if two individuals choose the same username they can both exist.

I really dislike twitch creating an Authy account on my behalf. I've tried to use 2FA with twitch a few times over the years and every time I end up with an Authy account that I have to go through a ~30 day procedure to delete it. I'd rather not tie my 2FA completely to my phone number.
Please just let us use TOTP without Authy.
