Twitch, we suggest you IMMEDIATELY backpeddle on this change that no one ever asked for nor wanted. You are planning that on September 1st, you will decrease the VOD storage threshold for non-affiliate channels from 14 days to 7 days. This is flat-out unacceptable. You are taking an entire extra week away from channels that aren't affiliate to download their VODs before they are permanently deleted. This change was not needed. Imagine you're a channel that is non-affiliate, like me, and you want to download one of your VODs to say, upload on YouTube. Usually, you would be able to download them in 2 weeks. Now, starting September 1st, if you eventually want to download your stream, and you are past that 7-day storage threshold, then you will find out the VOD has been permanently deleted, and then you'll find out Twitch did this stupid change to make it harder for non-affiliate channels to save their VODs. We are asking you to IMMEDIATELY backtrack on this decision. This change is going to affect so many non-affiliate channels who want to save their streams (IN FULL) and upload them to their YouTube channels, or elsewhere. The fact you are now only going to give 7 days for a non-affiliate channel to save their stream before it gets deleted is unacceptable. The two-week threshold was absolutely fine. There was no need for this stupid change! Instead of increasing the threshold by a certain number of days, or maybe an extra week, you DECREASE it instead. This is a stupid idea that should have never been taken into consideration. I am a non-affiliate streamer and you're giving me absolutely ZERO option other than to accept this change, or turn off VODs. No, I'm not accepting this stupid change, and neither are any of us non-affiliate channels. This is an idea that should have died at the drawing board. Trust me, when this goes into effect on September 1st, it is going to affect so many non-affiliate channels in the longrun. Your community did not want this, nor did they ask for it. If you care for your community, you would not go through with this stupid update and leave it as is. It's always "you will accept this change, deal with it". No, we aren't going to accept this! You are just making another excuse for non-affiliate streamers to buy Twitch Turbo. That is the only reason why. Well, enough is enough. Us non-affiliates are tired of you taking features away from us, or making a hassle out of a feature. We will stand up and fight back against this change. We demand you to cancel this change immediately!

    Twitch responded

Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.

We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself.  Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.

We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.

That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice…

Right now, it is basically impossible to verify your accounts in these 'restricted' chats without getting a phone number. Sure, it prevents trolls from messing with the chat, but it also locks millions of other users out of the experience. If they don't have a phone number to verify with, how are they supposed to verify their account? What if they aren't allowed to use their family's phone number? What if there phone number does not work with verification? You see? There are a lot of problems that come from having this forced phone verification in certain chats. Some users are unable to verify, so they will not be able to engage with the streamers, which is the WHOLE POINT of having a chat on a streaming platform. I say that you make it easier for people to verify their accounts by either allowing use of VoIP or landlines, or providing some sort of support to the people who are unable to verify their accounts, because there are a lot of people (including me) that know how annoying this crap is, and this would save them tons of hassle and allow them to start engaging with the streamer. If they do start to break the rules, THEN you should force no VoIP or landline to keep the troll from coming back. I feel this would be a much better implementation and would save viewers tons of hassle if they find these types of chats.

You should provide more quality options for the smaller Twitch channels as well as non-partnered channels. Right now, you can only have more quality options if you are a streamer with a high amount of viewers or a Twitch Partner. This means that the quality is stuck on "Source" and cannot be altered whatsoever. This needs to be changed. I am on a Chromebook and I can't watch a whole 1080p60/30 or 720p60/30 quality stream without the stream constantly buffering every few seconds. When it stops buffering, it 'plays' the stream for about a few more seconds before it starts to buffer again, and ruins my experience and my ability to watch the stream. My Chromebook is only capable of Twitch streaming qualities up to 480p quality, and anything above that makes the video player suffer as a result. I've been trying to enjoy these streams to no avail and end up leaving because it is practically unwatchable with the constant amount of buffering. Please remove the 'exclusivity' and allow all Twitch streamers to have quality options. This constant buffering is getting on my nerves.
