Obviously Twitch won't do anything about this because why would they.
The solution to this eternal problem is simple:
You have 1 account on which you follow people, but don't watch.
And you make 2 account in which you don't follow anyone except channels on which you want to get subs. On this channel you watch everyone.Only thing you need is 2nd browser opened so that you see who is live.

Like Nick said - we need to get an option to block or choose if we want to be gifted subs on the channels we follow
Right now we have only option to block everything for channels we don't follow, but it's not the same, I tried using it and unfollowed a lot of channels - basically it just messed up a lot and did not help at all.
We just need those options Twitch.Ygreky

I think it already prioritizes the people watching stream over other followers
But yeah, Imo if subs are gifted randomly then they should go to the people with higher watchtime first, respectively to: active viewers, later lurking viewers, later offline followers - for each pool first should be chosen people with more hours of watching stream they are gifted sub onYgreky

Yeah it'd be a good addition, now we have only option to make that on every channel we don't follow we can't be gifted sub at all
In my opinion there should be also same option for channels we do follow, I've been gifted sub randomly many times on the channels I followed only for like few days and don't really watch much later on wich is kinda bad to be gifted sub instead of that sub going to a person who already has more watch time than meYgreky

Pro tip: if you got gifted sub and you wanted to buy it yourself then just donate 500 or more bits, those are worth the same but give more to the streamer and are better anyway.. (unless they are in partner plus program)
and you will always have bit badge and can get bit emote too, also different from subs those can always only be yours.
