Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

Just an updated reminder, Twitch just gotten an influx of 4 million+ accounts within 24hrs as of September 25th 2022, (yesterday of this post), and most likely are all bots for possible hate raids, or follow botting. I already went through an banned 209k+ known bot accounts that have been on twitch for the past 5 years alone (still active accounts as far as I know of), and that takes me 6 days to run on each channel I moderate for, ain't no one got time to go through 4 million accounts to figure out what needs banning or blocking. Twitch has never cared, they only care about money, Never been about creators or their safety or the viewers safety (if these bots are also around monitoring people's activities to gather info about them). Justin.tv was a great site in its day and had a lot of potential, and Twitch (specifically Amazon) has completely blown it.

So I'm the one that posted this back in May 2017... want an update on how well Twitch cares? I put together a list of all bot names from Oct 2021 to June 2022, after removing invalid names and safe bots (like Nightbot, etc, or at least all the safe bots I know) I barely managed to bring that list down To this day, there are still these bots active and I haven't started July's list yet. want to know the number? 190,058 bots are STILL active accounts on twitch... These are just the bots! They don't contribute to views, they tend to be malicious in hate raids, or they are collecting people's info. They have been linked to targeted attacks by investigating easy targets to follow and spread, these are bots that in anywhere from 50+ channels (no normal person is going to sit in 50+ channels for no reason, if they can't even contribute to Twitch's views to support streamers), all the way up to almost 76k channels at a time.

This request wasn't just about bots too! It was to also ban unwanted viewers (stalkers, harassers, people with mal-intentions, twitch streamers have been known to be stalked and threatened, especially those in minority groups, females, and other cases, twitch doesn't do ****, the police don't do ****, how would you feel if you been swatted because someone you banned was still getting info on who you were and where you are by lingering in the channel, a ban should also be a block, and it should also remove their ability of even finding that channel for protecting creators and other viewers!) I've been in moderating positions for over 15 years in different platforms and games and communities. This is absolutely atrocious and just Greed talking from Twitch's end, they don't care, if they cared, something would have been done years ago, I've been around since the justin.tv years back in 2010. The pure frustration with talking to anyone on twitch staff is real, because they just don't care.

https://twitchinsights.net/bots is a very helpful link to confirm your findings, the fact that commanderroot is number one and partnered on twitch says a ton about how little twitch cares.

Just found a ton more for you guys. it's about that time of year that bots gather for a future attack.

the follow accounts seem to all be from the same bot or associated to the same bot: doubleslappy, rubberslayer, lemonjuices12, repined, nighest, wringers, letups, discoursed, sultriest, tonnages, belabors, forcepss, concocts, junketing, surplused. Many of these accounts seem to all be created the same day, link to each other, and proclaim to be streamer for fortnite with NO history of ever streaming.

from Discoursed on down the list, all have nearly 1k followers after just creating their accounts on the same day within the last month and using the link can confirm are live in 4k+ channels right now... That's a huge red flag, I hope that helps. I've already went through and reported/banned them, but twitch doesn't actually do anything, so just ban them.

Just now added anotherttvviewer and communityshowcase to my ban list (apparently I banned annotherttvviewer the day they created their account Jan. 3rd 2019), but for some reason, they won't leave, FINALLY gotten commanderroot to leave but right after, comminityshowcase showed right up in his place and for some reason, commanderroot uses the exact same as cachebear just replace their names in the same sentence as "I know just being in chat doesn't count as a view or viewer. I also know that someone can be in chat without being logged in. That being said, I however still would like to ask you, cachebear, to leave. Thank you!" I mean, come on Twitch!

Just updating and reiterating the contexts of previous posts so people don't need to go through 5+ pages of comments.

This ability to remove unwanted users from out channels is not just for bots, but also people who deal with stalkers and harassers and what not. It would make life MUCH simpler for everyone, the creator, the chatters, the viewers, the twitch staff, EVERYONE. If we as creators and moderators have an option to not just ban people from chatting or viewing chat logs, but legit kicking them off the page and requiring a captcha key to re-enter, and an automated ability to report said person to twitch for possible botting, harassment, and other reporting abilities. if it was all done in one fell swoop in one click of a button and giving timestamp and evidence from there, Twitch can look into reports on the spot and find related reports of said user to back up probable claims on a variety of streams.

Right now, I currently just had these four KNOWN botters in my channel since streaming last night.

cachebear (admits to being a bot, can remove from your channel with this message on THEIR channel: I know just being in chat doesn't count as a view or viewer. I also know that someone can be in chat without being logged in. That being said, I however still would like to ask you, cachebear, to leave. Thank you!)

Lurxx (admits to being a bot, can remove from your channel with this message on YOUR channel: Lurxx please leave my channel)

p0lizei (is a Russian botter, no way to remove, no videos, I banned them October 8th, 2018, they've been around since October 2nd, 2018..., with 3000+ followers? come on!)

Slocool (known botter, and been known at least since Shufunk commented June 25th, 2018!)

commanderroot (is a KNOWN BOTTER, AND TWITCH PARTNER A VERY BIG "********" AND SLAP IN THE FACE OF ALL WHO'S BEEN TRYING TO REMOVE THESE BOTS! and yet, so many have stated they have talked to him one on one and gotten help, but it's still unauthorized botting on other's streams and against ToS in twitch! For ***** sakes!)

Yes, we are outraged and upset because we've been reporting this stuff FOR ******* YEARS! and nothing gets done! We have a right to be ******! so being told that you'll take care of it later when it should be one of the first easily coded things since justin.tv is RIDICULOUS!

@Evelyn McKnight Your post from 091118 erroneously lists me (n3td3v) as a bot which I am by no means. I am not only a streamer supporter & promoter, but I am also a Twitch content creator much like yourself, and correct me if I am wrong here, but I do not believe I have ever been to your channel so therefore it would be wrong to lump sum me along with several others on your list as 'bots'. I only actively lurk the channels of my subscribers and other small streamers that have asked me for help in growing their channels because I SUPPORT ALL STREAMERS that want/need it. Also, I have personally talked to CommanderRoot on many occasion and I can testify that he is also not a bot, but actually Twitch staff."

I never stated you were in my channel, but I've seen in channels I moderate for, and I've gone through the list of all the people listed, and review behaviour, I had put you on the list because you were showing very similar signs of bot like behaviors, never stating anything and were amongst many of the bot channels. as for commander root, as I stated, states that he does lurk in many channels, has admitted to making a bot, other's confirm his bot, (I couldn't find the command to remove said bot from his channel or was it the one that was too long and assinine to use? like a big fuck you to your face if you ask me), and states that he doesn't record or even watch the streams, so it's not actually helping anyone, so why is he there really? This was a question I asked, and now being told he's twitch staff just makes it even a bigger Fuck you to our faces because they are basically running twitch like they are above their own rules. The rules are there for all to follow equally if the rules aren't followed, why even have them?! Are they not there to actually protect us, to help us? really, it's just... arrogant, and disgusting, I see he's a partner on twitch, nowhere did I see the twitch wrench or staff symbol by his name, but to allow that to continue to go on while we're are stating that we have a problem with this sort of behaviour? How are we not suppose to be pissed off by such actions?

If someone is a real person in my channel, I have no problem with them lurking, but it's getting harder and harder to tell who is and isn't real anymore because of this bullshit going on. Just a few weeks ago, even twitch staff accounts were compromised by bots, and they still haven't given us any options to protect our streams, the streams we moderate for, nor give any indication that viewers that add to reports is getting anything done. so excuse me if this bot situation is literally plaguing Twitch right now, and you might have gotten caught in the net by accident.

I have friends that use Chatty to lurk and help record chat logs for moderating purposes for our own channels (to prevent trolls from spreading their hate, etc etc), but they don't normally spend time in more than 60 channels, Chatty has a bit of a memory leak, and they still show up in those channels as a regular viewer, watch, comment, interact, sometimes lurk while they are off at work and what not. but these bots we see in more than 100's of channels at once, that's someone using a server or something much smoother than a typical home computer to be in all those channels at once. it's not often to find people that can lurk in so many channels due to internet limitations, or computer limitations etc. so that's probably the most likely red flag I saw from your username, and what many other's had seen, I'm not the only one that listed you if I recall, which is why I looked into it before making that list.

It's been a while, and searching these comments takes a little more time than I have today to do. I don't have time to recheck said list today to update for other's convenience right now. but we shouldn't be needing a list when all we're asking for is a simple kick option. but it's what we have to work with for right now.

@averageBot, it's amazing that someone doesn't fully read everything that's stated all through the comments, especially when mentioned that people have better things to do with their life, like actually LIVING THEIR LIFE outside of the internets, than needing to monitor something 24/7 on something that should be common sense, when the ToS clearly states that these are people breaking rules, but no one is doing anything about it... nice try shaming someone trying to do right for a community of hard-working streamers. Now buzz off, and let the real people make their statements.

also, this isn't just for bots, it's also for unwanted users, I've known people that banned harassers in their channel, but that doesn't stop them from reading the chat and harassing other viewers in the channel (whispering them), LITERALLY, he had quit streaming, because not only did this person threaten his wife and child, but also maligning against the streamer to these other chatters. etc etc, even though they had reported them to the police and twitch for several months to nearly a year, they didn't do ANYTHING about it!. so yes, we need a KICK option to get rid of these malicious people!

for those that want to prevent these bots from possibly bypassing the sub only chats, banning them should prevent them from being gift subbed.

Here's a current still existing KNOWN bot lists.

I will say some do have a command to remove them when it reads it, they get blacklisted so they don't return. but many don't offer this option and it's just annoying.

p0sitivitybot is the one I found that has a working command
    P0sitivityBot please leave my channel
just copy and paste that (before or after you ban them if you want to still prevent them from accidentally getting gift subbed)

    electricallongboard
    electricalskateboard
    CommanderRoot
    BananenNanen
    Slocool
    jade_elephant_association
    lanfusion
    himekoelectric
    ShoutGamers
    0_applebadapple_0
    v_and_k
    apricotdrupefruit
    fossabot
    n3td3v
    8rose
    skinnyseahorse

also, ToS does state that if you have bots in your channel, they must be authorized by you so that the numbers are properly reflected, etc etc. we're saying that we are not authorizing these bots in our channel, and they aren't giving us an option to remove them, which we should have had this simple function from the beginning. A Kick option would be nice to also add an auto-report option and to state a flag on it to be investigated for being a real person.

I'm tired of not knowing if my viewers are real lurkers enjoying their content and not just bots that aren't even helping my views or me improve my channel in any way. Hell, even Rootcommander states he doesn't watch any of the streams it sticks around in, it's not allowed to log people's chats, so what's the fucking purpose of it being there?! And it's partnered, Twitch just blatantly shows us to our faces it doesn't care what we the hard working streamer's care. Some of us have stalkers we want no part of entering back into our lives, some of us get easily targeted for harassment, some of these bots give an option for other's to get targeted by other malicious people in general.... especially the host giveaways, what's to stop an attacker from send out their spam bots through a hosted channel, and staying behind on the other channel to watch the chaos?! it's obnoxious!

Some of us want better things to do with our time than spending hours per day going from one channel we mod for to another to ban all these bots! Why doesn't Twitch care what we're saying is killing the fun out of streaming!?

3:43NoseBabe: I just restarted it to only be in >15 viewers, due to people being unhappy
3:43NoseBabe: Sorry mate, it's an innocent bot, dont want anyone to be affraid of anything"

admits for linking bots into many channels to gain financial info of streamers, which is against ToS (never asked permission to run his bot to gather said info), and against the law!

https://twitchanalysis.top/about leads to info stating: "TwitchAnalysis started off as a small project to find out how many subscribers a single streamer had, as I was curious how much money they were making." and https://twitchanalysis.top:8777/dashboard leads to a link that asks for your twitch authorization to be able to untrack yourself! which is not acceptable!"

They were in another streamer's channel (I mod for), and we asked him to remove himself, he stated he'd blacklist the channel to not come back, he has come back several times tonight... reporting them to twitch has done us nothing, WE NEED A KICK OPTION!

It's funny, I get people trying to degrade my legit common sense requests all the time... and the last time this happened, people told me it wasn't feasible to get follower only/regular only chat available... and low and behold we get such a thing approx 2 months after my request for it.

Do I ban all lurkers, no, if I know someone is a real person (seen them in other channels that have actually chatted, or has come in and talked to me before, etc etc), then I know they are legit lurkers, but the BOTS are against terms of service because they did not request permission to use their bots in my channel.

I believe that these bots sit there to log the places you host and raid so that when they unless their spam bots, they spread much more quickly across live channels in their database, if you've haven't paid attention, even some of the twitch staff accounts gotten phished and compromised...

This is obviously a thing that's been happening almost every summer thus far, which leads me to believe they have to start over from scratch, research/log for a few months and then restart their attacks. could be the same person for all we know. (probably just doing it for kicks...)

I'd like the option to not only Ban but kick them from the channel so they can't access without some sort of Captcha, which means they need to physically use the site. furthermore, it'd be nice to have it send an auto alert to Twitch that something is fishy about said account when it's deemed kicked. Bot accounts are one of the higher risks in a channel.

Not only are they against ToS, not only are they logging info, not only do they put a streamer, and viewer, and hostee/raid target at risk, but if you also know, it affects numbers. Twitch is against people using bots to influence their numbers to a partnership, hence one of many reasons against ToS... NOW, I may not want to become a partner (not worth the stress on my health personally, not my cup of cherry coke...), but I know many other broadcasters that I want to help, that I don't want to spread these bots to their channels... which stops the flow of hosting/raiding. Last year, when I had this same issue, I warned my viewers, "Look I have to shut off stream for like 10 mins for these bots to leave the channel so that I can properly host/raid someone that doesn't have this bot in their channel, they don't tend to follow the host/raid then." who wants to sit here waiting 10 mins for a bot to leave their channel, not me, be faster to just kick them and then host/raid. there, no false inflation of numbers, no way to log the host/raid being sent, etc etc. Lot faster, lot more common sense, and low and behold, Twitch would get a notification, "hey, there's a lot of people kicking this one account off the site, let's see if they ever spoke anywhere, and let them prove they are human and not a bot. Oh it's a human, okay, let them back on, give them a simple warning of the issue... oh it's a bot, let's see if we can deter this account from coming back. Oh this particular person is falsely kicking a bunch of a people for fun?... let's suspend their account, this isn't a game..."

I never once stated to ban/kick lurkers that are legit lurkers, but I do request when a "lurker" joins chat, to at least whisper me they are real so I don't confuse them for a bot... well, all the bot accounts, I have message to verify they are not bot accounts (whispered), and not one of them left my channel as I requested, and not one of them verified themselves as just legit lurkers, I mean, there's no reason to lurk while offline, my bot to award currency isn't even on... so it's not like they are earning anything, pointless, bot accounts I already banned from earning points in my channel, or have any permissions in my channel, but they always have the option to whisper me to lift a ban, but they don't do that, BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTS! and are reported as such, I send enough proof to twitch on this daily. The problem is, twitch doesn't take us very seriously of our concerns, and now we have this phishing scam spam bots taking over a bunch of accounts including some staff accounts... so tell me again why this isn't a legit thing we should have?

I created this thread over a year ago, as some have pointed out. I'd like to add we are now facing a new threat of bot accounts.

    "4:51Info_Bot_by_Stranqe: Streamer: ****** | Playing: No Man's Sky | Title: ****** #****** #****** ~******~ | Viewers: 42 | Total Views: 47005 | Uptime: 6 hours, 47 minutes, 55 seconds | CorgiDerp Show your support by following Twitch / @****** CorgiDerp
    4:51Me: what is that?
4:51Me: looks like it's one of those bots....
    4:51Info_Bot_by_Stranqe: sorry
4:51Info_Bot_by_Stranqe: just trying out my new bot
    ************ banned info_bot_by_stranqe.
4:52Me: you have to ask for permission to use bots in anyone's channels, and it's against ToS, and now, I'm reporting and banning in many channels."

I removed sensitive info, basically, it grabbed info of the channel and relayed in back into the chat. shortly after reporting this bot, I lost privileges to ban accounts in all my channels I mod and stream from with a "reasoning" tag... no idea how or why, but Twitch needs to fix their services...

We as streamers/moderators should have the right to protect our channels from unwanted guests for any reason we feel is necessary to report, and when twitch doesn't take us seriously... it's bad business practice for the twitch in general. I'm sure anyone with a business education and ethics101 would know, you don't piss off the base of people that support you... This is seriously getting out of hand, and should have been taken cared of a LONG time ago.

We shouldn't have to run a BOT'S command to remove them from our channel, we should be running our own twitch channel commands to remove a bot from our channel. If a person shows up to lurk, that's fine, but please at least let us get PROOF that you are a legit lurker and not a bot! it is literally against ToS to have unauthorized bots in a channel. We did not get your request to have our permission to be in our channel, now remove yourselves, period! If I'm calling out a name because I think it's a bot, it's not meant to be rude to a legit lurker, I have legit concerns of a bot in my channel gathering information, against my wishes, and against my viewer's wishes, and against the streamer's wishes that I'm planning to host or raid. No one should be feeling pressured into having to put their foot down on this. so just give us the option to kick them from our channel already, and let them PROVE they aren't a bot to return back in! it doesn't delurk them in any shape or form, and we don't have to stop everything we are doing to protect our channel and friends. Simple Twitch... VERY SIMPLE! why is this not a thing yet? give us one good reason why we shouldn't have this as an option, because it's against ToS, and us reporting them has done NOTHING! If anything, you're just telling us you don't actually care. So prove us wrong and show you do care and get this implemented!

First thing I did when creating my account back in 2010 on justin.tv, I made two accounts with both spellings to prevent anyone impersonating me. I never logged into the other account, and I've recently changed my name, but to make sure it wouldn't ever be a future issue, I made sure one of my old accounts took my old name so that future content I make could never be slandered/defamation, or misrepresented from previous names. It's a necessity to protect myself, because I know I can't rely on companies to do their jobs... case in point: https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/933812-safety/suggestions/19429897-kick-unwanted-users-bots-from-channel-completely Twitch doesn't care... that post I made in 2017, they responded in 2019, and it's only gotten worse over the years... they... don't... care....
