Please allow the ability to disable "Unban requests"
Please allow the ability to disable "Unban requests"
or provide a way to replace the link with instructions for how to apply for a unban
We have an existing system on CohhCarnage's channel, and would prefer to use that system over the inbuilt Twitch system, but we cannot turn off the inbuilt Twitch system.
Hey all!
So sorry I missed this thread, but we do now have this live on the site!
You can easily turn off unban requests in your Dashboard under Settings – Moderation.
Thank you so much for this feedback and please let us know any other changes you would like to see to Mod View or other Safety settings.

Hey, @mouse, here's my system... Come to my channel and say racist, sexist, hateful, rude, and/or disgusting things you get banned. Done. I stand behind my mods too. There's no coming back from that. I will not allow you back into my channel. Please don't try to tell me how to run my channel by telling me to "place instructions for your system in the Deny Message." My system is clear in my channel's rules when you join. Break them, and Twitch shouldn't be there to save them.

I can see the benefit of this. People I have banned have harassed other viewers completely halting the stream. But for larger streamers this feature seems like a house fly.

I'm honestly very confused as to why twitch would even implement such a feature. Who is asking for this? Surely not streamers or the majority of mods I know. Most of us only ban users when they've done something we consider to be egregious and there are already enough avenues for banned users to harass mods and streamers in other areas across twitch. Was this put in place solely to placate users who are repeatedly banned and complain about it? I can see no other point at all and strongly endorse the idea of allowing streamers to opt out of this.

This will be abused more than it will provide any service to the community.
As the many community voices speaking out against likely will not prevent rolling it out, please at least offer content creators and moderators an opt out option before implementation.

Take away the fully banned you can't read chat

People never get banned from streams without a reason, having this means they could constantly spam it to try and get unbanned and annoy the streamer/mod team more so. Please either disable this feature or give the streamer the ability to turn it off

i do not ban people unless it’s warranted and there are already ways for banned users to contact mod teams. i do not need my mods to be stressed that banned users are now contacting them to be unbanned. as the streamer who has to deal with this stuff while live in front of a webcam, i do not want anyone who has been banned to have the ability to request otherwise. i do not need to know if people i have banned want to come back into the community. please take into consideration that if a streamer issues a ban it’s because we no longer have the energy to deal with the user anymore. please do not take that from us by allowing these users to engage with our communities again in ANY way.

As a small streamer (CCV ~25) I had conversations with my moderators when and how we ban. Suspensions on my channel are permanent and I do not want me or my moderators to have a conversation/touch-point with racists, homophobic people or those that attack our families (which happens).
I think this decision should be on a creators side if they want to have something like that turned on or not.
There are plenty of the fish out there, if they can't behave on my stream they'll find other one that will suit their needs. -

Same thing in the channels I moderate for: People get banned for good and serious reasons! Believe or not but there is racism, harassment, homophobia, sexism etc going on at Twitch. The only firewall we have against that kind of people is the banning functionality which should shut people down once and for good.
Your fancy new functionality gives that kind of people a platform to go a second time on harassment, insult or even threat streamers and moderators. And with all seriousness: There HAS TO BE an option to turn that off! -

All this is is further access to harass streamers and mods. If they were banned by accident we figure that out and fix it immediately. Anyone else, if you break the rules, you’re banned. Point blank. This is unnecessary.

Please prioritize this.
Last thing I want is to give my moderators/myself the opportunity to be further bothered by a banned user.
I'm unsure why the ability to turn this off didn't roll out with the update in the first place

Due to no API I can't automate the denials with instructions. so a moderator is gonna have to have using the Twitch system as well as the existing system
And it just ads to user/viewer frustration
