(Visually) Disable Moderator Badge
Users are able to hide specific badges already (Twitch Prime, Turbo, Bits, ...) but what about Moderator Badges?
The reason for this suggestion:
In smaller streams (new) chatters might get scared if moderators post messages.
So I see 2 potential ways this could be achieved:
- Only visually disable the mod badge (keeping the moderation actions in-tact)
- Allow moderator to go into "non-moderation mode" - in this mode, the moderation actions are not available and they are like a normal chatter
In both cases moderators should still show up in the Moderator List (/mods).
Recently Twitch added a "Mod View" into the chat settings - maybe something could be added in there?
Say a "Hide Moderator Badge" option?
We would like to offer an “off-duty mode” for Mods, but it isn’t one of our top priorities at the moment. Will revisit in 2021.
I'd really like an "off-duty mode", as modding 24/7 could lead to you enjoying a stream less and less. Just being able to take some time off without having the streamer being forced to unmod and mod you again would be so much nicer.
The only thing I'm worrying about is this: Does "off-duty" mean that permissions are disabled? Because, imagine an off-duty-mod is the only mod currently active in the channel and sth. happens. He then should still be able to take some action without having to deactivate "off-duty". To clarify this, that there is someone on off-duty, there also might be some indicator that someone is a mod, but currently has some spare time. And if it is only a hint in the popup that appears when clicking on the username... but that would at least create some clarity.
Commenting for a boost on this topic!
We need the ability to "toggle" Mod badges to allow for vacation time off. This will help small channels GROW and increase the revenue capabilities for Twitch to have even more active channels with more engaged audiences in the long run. A lot of "mid-tier" streamers struggle to moderate their chats without overcrowding with moderators who are much needed for support during their performances.
Any Update on this @Shimesaba? Last comment shows 'Will revisit in 2021'
The channel I mod for, a 24/7 stream, has very few viewers. So, in that respect, I think it would be a good call to introduce an 'off duty' feature, so it is not so full on with mods in chat. To log out and back into a different account, well, it's too much of a faff, and not practical. The other feature I would like to see, and one that would help very much, is the ability to rewind at anytime, to any time the stream has been live. That, however, may be a topic for another time!
Freenode (rest in peace) had the idea of "channel temperature". Having a lot of mods active and marked in chat puts everybody a little bit more on edge -- and this is currently unavoidable for small streamers who have a moderator for small tasks like keeping bots out. I don't want to wear my "@" all the time in IRC, and I don't want to wear the mod badge all the time either.
Great idea! Supporting it! Especially, it´s supporting a organized stream.
This would be a huge addition!
Seeing as this is 2022 and the last note from @Shimesaba is from 2 years ago, it seems as if this is not happening. However, this would be a massive quality of life improvement for streamers and moderators alike and really needs to be addressed.
An "off-duty mode" for Mods would be great. I hope that did get revisited.
Has there been any updates to this? This would be a great feature to have
I'm guessing since it's 2022 this isn't happening.
Sadness, honesti I'd rather be able to have no badges shown at all if they are mine. Screen real estate is valuable, especially on mobile.
this would be a great feature to have
This would be awesome, especially benefiting the massive number of smaller creators, or any creators that would be fine with more mods but don't want their chat filled with green. This would especially help in the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC spaces because they are often targets of harassment.
Any update on the "off duty mode" @Shimesaba ?
Hello from May 2022. Sounds like revisiting in 2021 was a bust. Maybe 2022?
This would definitely be helpful. Is there any updates regarding this idea?
I LOVE the idea of "incognito mods".
Plus it almost feels like all eyes are on YOU if everyone in the chat is a mod and you're some random new viewer.
Please make this a thing.
Great idea for the "off duty mod" badge! It definitely feels like once you are a mod, you cannot interact with the stream ever again like a normal chatter, and you always need to be "working" when you're watching.
Sometimes I just want to go in and relax with the stream and not have the pressure of being in charge or having to police people.
The problem is that if I show up in the moderator list as a mod, and I DON'T do the things I normally do, people could think that those things are now allowed. Also if I'm in the list and showing up as a mod, other mods could imagine I'm working and not do anything, when I really just want to rest.
Right now the answer is ... I don't go in the stream I mod for unless I'm going to mod. Which is a bummer.
Would defo like an option to hide mod badge that can have it be a VIP one instead when people need to hangout as they normally would for whichever reason
Great idea! I would love this as an option and I personally know quite a few mods that would definitely use as well.
Everyone here has made some great comments as to how it can be used. I also agree with the idea of getting rid of a "mod wall" or going into a channel I mod in when I'm not actually modding at that moment.
