8. NorCal AIDS Cycle

   The NorCal AIDS Cycle or NCAC (a US, California based 501(c)(3) charitable organization) benefits some of the most in-need HIV/AIDS outreach efforts throughout Northern California. The organization has no paid employees and their largest fundraiser, their annual cycling event, is 100% volunteer supported. Since 2005 the organization has, through mostly grassroots fundraising efforts, raised millions of dollars to support HIV/AIDS outreach and education services throughout Northern California supporting mostly organizations in rural or otherwise underserved areas. For example, grants from the NCAC reopened the Nevada County testing program and has continued to be the primary funding source sustaining it among other notable accomplishments. These funds are desperately needed in those underserved communities to continue providing the services that are still required to fight the spread of HIV and help those currently living with it. It would be a tremendous help to be able to conduct fundraisers with this integrated Twitch support and we would be honored to be listed as a charity in that regard.     One would expect that children experiencing long-term hospital stays would have access to the newest and most entertaining technologies and content. The unfortunate reality is far bleaker: patients are systematically condemned to a small and outdated library of mediocre entertainment and education options. Legacy vendors sell expensive, bundled packages of low quality content that require IT infrastructure & hardware. Existing “patient engagement systems” are dependent upon outdated, cumbersome technology stacks. If only there was a technology that provided a safe and secure diversion from the discomfort, anxiety and boredom of a hospital stay.

    We aim to increase awareness for organ and tissue donation, as well as help those going through the transplantation process. Ian registered as an organ
    donor the day he received his license. This was very important to him. He was able to be an organ donor and provided the gift of sight to two people. Our board members regularly volunteer with Eversight Michigan and Gift of Life Michigan at their events.

    Michelle and Alan publicly speak on behalf of donor families.

    OPPORTUNITY

    We provide scholarship opportunities to well-deserving Wayne county high school students pursuing a degree in Engineering both at University of Michigan (through The Ian Clemens Memorial Scholarship for Future Engineers – University of Michigan College of Engineering) and other public Michigan universities.

    To Date, since our inception (July 2016), we have raised and distributed over $175,000.00 to those we serve. We are a 100% volunteer organization, every donation we receive goes directly to support our mission.
