1. Changes that do need to happen to better the platform

   Honestly if you have a thriving community and get suspended you can't interact with anyone at all. You are yanked out from your freinds and no real way to communitate unless you have other platforms. This can be very damaging and can be dangerous for the individual. The process of appeal or the way suspentions are given give you no feedback or redemption literlaly removing the individuals freedom of speach. Putting everything in the hand of an automated system that plays with peoples life work and hobbies. Honestly I suggest a more humane system that allows a period of time where the streamer can be redeemed. A better feedback system that includes timestamps from the vod. I also suggest a grace perioud to say good bye to their communities so the individual can move over platform peacefully btw this is given to people on death row so its not much to ask. I also suggest a more indept appeal system that has the user fill out a form that informs them what they did wrong and what to do to avoid repeat offences and for the person to debunk claim with access to the vod in question.

2. Sexual Content Policy Update

   To Whom it May Concern at Twitch and whoever else decides to read this,

   While I am not someone who streams on Twitch, though have considered it, and who rarely finds myself watching streams, I still had been rather excited for the recent, now declared null, update to the TOS/Policy on Sexual Content.

   I am not someone who participates all that often in adult content, but I do believe that it should be able to exist in adult spaces for those who do wish to participate. The internet has become a hostile places for those who wish to see or participate in adult spaces, which in turn makes it harder to create safe adult communities with proper monitoring and safety in mind.

   I do not believe the sudden take back of the content policy change was the right thing to do. If anything I believe the best thing Twitch could have done was instead move in the direction of banning the machine learning(AI) content that was mentioned as a reason behind this rollback because of the whole "not being able to tell because of how lifelike it is."
   If there is an obvious problem area — AI content — then that is what should be focused on, not a blanket ban on content. Especially when you readily admitted that most of the content was in line with the new policy and that any content that wasn't was dealt with accordingly.

   Censorship does not work in the way that most people and companies think it does. The only thing censoring content, especially fictional content, does is tilt in favor of those who wish to use the censoring to get rid of anything they do not like, and honestly starts to feel like we're toeing the edges of certain ideals(fas cist) and that we're trying to reinstate the Hays Code <-- something people should look up to learn about why this isn't the way we should be going.

   While I understand the concerns of some people wanting to keep adult content away from minors, and not wishing to see it themselves, there are a few things that they should keep in mind:

   1. It is not the responsibility of adults who create adult content in adult spaces to cater or to look after kids that appear in those spaces. This is entirely the responsibility of the parents, and to an extent the website, to do and prevent.
      If you are afraid that seeing such things will "corrupt their minds" then that sounds like something you have to deal with in yourself, and is also in your responsibilities as a parent and adult to teach your kids about internet safety and sex education.

   2. Online isn't just for kids and adults shouldn't have to give up their spaces for kids. We're allowed to exist and do adult things and we shouldn't have to worry about kids breaking OUR boundaries to access OUR spaces.

   3. If you don't want to see it then don't watch it. No one is forcing you to watch the things you do not want to see.

   4. In my experience online most anyone that has a "think of the children" mindset usually doesn't actually care about kids and is using the kids as an excuse to attack the actual thing they don't want to see. If this is not the case then all my points still stand. If it is, then you should probably have a think about what it really is that you're against and why. Your disgust is not a measure of morality.

   ---

   Now, onto what I think Twitch should do:

   1. Separate the adult content from spaces where minors can view or access it. This is not the same as removing it completely.

   2. Create a proper block/blacklist/filtering system that allows people to remove content tagged with certain labels and mature ratings from their feed entirely so they do not have to see what they do not want to.

   3. As an addition to point two, be vigilant and dedicated to making sure that people tag/rate their content properly so the tagging and rating systems work properly.

   4. Be transparent about what adult content is allowed on twitch. As in if you say fictional adult content, be sure to make it clear that all fictional characters must be over the age of eighteen, which I am sure was/is already a rule, but better to restate it than not. Also add examples of allowed content.
      This kind of thing can be tricky though as you cannot really discern age of someone off appearance alone. Example being I just turned thirty and people think I am younger than my sister who is four years younger than me. Or that there are many people who are adults but have small chests or small stature.

   5. Actually have a plan and be ready for the influx of content when you make sure changes to your site. As mentioned previously, most of the internet is a hostile place for adult content so when someone gives the ok to such, there will always be those who push the boundaries to see what is and is not allowed — be transparent about what is ok — and as long as you monitor it then everything should be ok. Of course the beginning will be a bit rocky, but things never start out going the exact way we want them to go, and running away does not allow progress to be made.
      Hire more moderators and pay them fairly for their work.

   6. Remove machine learning(AI) ccontent if it is such a problem that one cannot tell if it is real or not.

3. Hate Raid Mass Report Response

   I noticed a lot of hate raids will flag / report a channel rapidly to get it taken down; and it had me thinking about Steam Review Bombing.

   I was wondering if a possible fix might be that if a channel gets an exceptional amount of flags / reports in a short period of time that those reports are thrown out or logged as possible hate raid? Might allow your automated systems to avoid banning streamers in these situations while not removing the ability to still report content.

4. make an 18+ twitch website

   Make a Twitch website that's 18+ only, possibly with more lax moderation and rules.
   One that's similar to twitch, but it's 18+ and it's a separate website. It's unlikely that there would be any monetary loss, long term. Quite the opposite actually.
   Twitch is already considered somewhat of a shady **** site, so it would have no bearing on their reputation.
   The only difference would be that the 18+ content would get its own twitch website and would thus be separated from the regular content and make the main Twitch website predominantly for gaming again.

6. Clarity on the meaning of "Realistically doctored nudity"

   Your "Safety" policy prohibits "realistically doctored nudity" without any explanation or examples of what that even means. I suggest updating the policy to provide clarity on that.

8. Just chatting sexual

   Can we have a separate version on just chatting for sexualy explicit content, whenever viewing the just chatting tab it's nothing but sexually explicit things. Now that it is explicitly allowed by Twitch, why not make it it's own category so just chatting can actually just be chatting.

   Please require an account to view a stream. Banned users are just logging out to view streams now. And please bring back removing banned followers from your list, please! I don’t know why you got rid of this feature but bring it back.

10. Homepage Content Recommendation Policy Update

    Today's update to the policies are understandable but the solution provided is very disappointing. I am a sex-positive streamer who educates and discusses sex and kink in a no-shame, queer-focused way. I am not streaming nude or playing games with excessive nudity. However, I do use the "Sexual Themes" tag because I want viewers to be aware that those topics of conversation can and do arise. With this new policy, I'm now penalized for being sex-positive by being ineligible for the home page.

    It has been previously recommended that blurred or hidden thumbnails be shown with those categories, which feels like a much more reasonable solution. I would alternatively suggest splitting the "Sexual Themes" category into two categories to better specify between explicit content that may appear on screen, and therefor in a thumbnail and sex-positive, inclusive spaces that wouldn't be appropriate for viewers under 18 but wouldn't pose a thumbnail risk.

    This also doesn't feel like a perfect solution but regardless, this feels like a continuation of excessive censorship on the internet that focuses on puritanical, "family-friendly" content and suppression of content that does not fit into that box. I would request a more thoughtful and nuanced solution that does not force me to either "clean up my content" or be penalized.

11. Allow Affiliate Onboarding to Accept Paypal instead of giving out your SSN

    Allowing users to complete the Affiliate Application by using their Paypal or another method that doesn't include sharing their SSN would be a major step privacy wise.

    If someone's SSN gets stolen, it can ruin them financially for years to come or even for life. This is why we are told never to share that number. Having a work around where we can file the taxes ourselves without having to give out our SSN to Twitch or Amazon would be beneficial to all involved and would help reduce the chances of people getting their SSN stolen.

    Posting this in safety as well because having to give out your SSN is a giant security risk

    It would be great to have a feature to hide the chat and/or the entire stream for everyone who isn't logged in.

    Recently, one of my viewers received screenshots of their conversation in my chat from someone who is already banned. Having a feature that hides the entire chat, or even the entire stream, If possible, would be great! It will help alot with the safety of the streamers and for the safety of the viewers

15. Whisper Function only used by bots?

    In my 13 years of being on the website I can only recall a few times I've used the whisper function, majority of which were people contacting me [as a moderator] for an unban. The hundreds, possibly thousands of other times were merely bots using the feature to spam links which I can only assume are all malicious.
    Now I don't have any data on how useful the whisper function is for actual people but I would take a guess and say 80-90% of all whisper messages are likely spam/bots. I would just like to propose the removal of the whisper function altogether, save your viewers from malicious attacks and save your resources in the process. You've done a great job in eliminating a majority of bot spam in chats, now it's time to continue that progress by eliminating this one.

16. Notifications on stream events

    Hi,

    Yesterday there was a great event hosted on The Nerd Council channel featuring different black streamers in the UK, celebrating Black Brilliance. I found out via email and it is so appreciated that I was notified. However, this was only notified on the day of the event. This has caused a lot of disparaging messages from those unaware and it made the chat very tough to engage in.

    May I suggest that we can try to get notifications on these events prior the day, as this can help lower the issue of hate messages, so it can provide for a better chat experience for those who want to engage.

18. Allow Third-Party Applications To Merge Chat

    I suggest allowing third-party applications to show merged chat during streams. Showing all chats from various streaming services will increase inclusion as then all viewers can chat with each other as well and not be left out of conversations without having to leave Twitch to go to another streaming platform. By not allowing the ability to merge chats through third-party services it decreases inclusiveness.

    Please allow the editing of a reason for a channel ban.
    Specifically, allow the editing of the reason text of a channel ban, without unbanning the user in question first. It is important that the user stays banned during this process, and that the timestamp of when the user was initially banned is preserved.
    I am someone who likes to tell users why they have been banned, often in great detail, so that they may easily see the error of their ways and show remorse for their actions before submitting an unban request. However, it is a regular occurrence, that a user who has been banned for one thing, is later found out to have done other ban worthy things, either earlier without my awareness, or later on, that I would like to also include. This would be helpful in giving everyone involved a better picture of the severity of their infractions.

    Please extend the possible maximum length for the reason text of a channel ban.
    Currently, the maximum length the reason text of a ban can have is limited by the length of a chat message (500 characters), and can be calculated as follows: 500-6-<length of username>
    It is possible to ban people through an API integration, but I have not explored its limitations. This is typically not how you ban a user from a channel.
    I have recently banned someone, and I ran out of space listing all the reasons for which to ban them. I really want them to know what abusive behavior they are banned for, though (and anyone else the ban list is shared with).
