Intentional misuse of tags ie. Vtuber tag on non-Vtuber
There has been a recent rise in streamers misusing the tag system, most noticeably with non-Vtubers using the Vtuber tag. This makes discoverability more difficult for both streamers who are actually Vtubers, and viewers trying to use the tag system to find Vtubers. Even prominent streamers are misusing tags, so this behavior has been spreading. I'd like to ask Twitch staff to please enforce action on the misuse of tags to help the streamers and viewers who are using the tag system as intended. Banning streamers from using specific tags they have been caught and verified to be abusing them might be a helpful solution to consider.
Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice to express themselves and define their content.
Our goal is to have more to share with you about the tags feature later this year.

It's important to uphold the value of these sort of tags for the community. It's different that just "for fun!" This is a personal choice by the users. Imagine using thr ADHD tag when you're entirely different and making fun of people with disabilities

so frustrating as if no one i follow is streaming for me to raid i always look for other vtubers to raid. misuse of tags makes it more difficult to do that. also y’know it’s… literally a rule.

If you won't address the mislabeling, at least address the open harassment and hostility being directed towards our community for trying to protect the tag we fought so hard to get in the first place.
There's no point in even having a tag system if mislabeling is going to become the new meta.

100% Behind ya! Partnered streamers should not get away with it simply because they're partnered. EVERYONE should be held to the same standard. if they arent, then no one wins and no one benefits from the system.
TAG YASELVES RIGHT!

This blatant misuse of tagging needs to be cracked down on.

I whole heartedly agree, the fact that they're doing this is out of pure greed and jealousy. Anyone not using a Vtuber Model or a PNG should not be allowed to use the Vtuber tag at all. This is a blatant misuse of the tag system and they should be punished for this.

Not even just subtle abuse, and not just the vtuber tag. From what I saw, it was mostly Spanish streamers using both the vtuber and anime tags while performing intentionally sexual asmr. Outright fellating microphones and moaning. The content itself shouldn't be appropriate, much less the tag use. But it almost feels organized or coordinated in some way as it is clearly a group of similar *partnered* streamers performing identical content. One even admitting to their use of the tag in their stream title. It's obvious it's abuse, it's obvious they are trying to milk some non-existent "meta" or troll actual vtubers. Twitch needs to step in before this becomes a whole thing and more people start doing it.

It's in the TOS and since people have been banned/punished for less, this rule should be enforced too. While the other offenses were more mild in nature, this one genuinely affects a part of the community

Misusing tags is a violation of TOS. Plain and simple. There should be more enforcement on this.

Why should actual Vtubers who put in so much work to build up an audience have to deal with an already established non-virtual content creator coming in and stealing potential growth using the Vtuber tag when it doesn't apply to them? This is hurting Vtubers as a whole.

As the community rapidly grows with creative values of a vtuber. Some streamers take this chance to misuse the tag to gain views and be seen when the Vtuber tag is made for streamers who uses a virtual Avatar in replacing no cam or irl cam streamers

If someone isn't a VTuber, they shouldn't be using the tag. It's as simple as that.

Every one who isn't a Vtuber that's abusing this tag for their own gain needs to be severely punished. All it does is that they're AFRAID they're being irrelevant. I'm a Vtuber myself and though I try not to worry about numbers, this does affect me as well since they're blatantly abusing it.

Vtubers have fought extremely hard for this tag. ITs like getting spit in the face when you see someone misusing it just for clicks. Granted some IRL streamers talk about vtubers on stream, but most of them like mizkif and xqc and amouranth are not using this tag like that. If anything they are mocking vtubers.

This is a critical request, recommendation, call to action.

Being a Vtuber/ starting out is already so difficult and it feels super discouraging to have huge streamers use this tag just because Vtubing has gained some popularity finally

It's always the top irl streamers causing problems for everybody else by violating TOS and trying to waive it away by pinning the blame on each other.
You call someone out and 9/10 times their first response is "Why me? It was (insert other p.o.s. streamer) who started it!" When we don't give a rats over who started the trend. The rest of them say things like "It's not against TOS you moron" when as a matter of fact it 100% does, outright lying as long as it means there's even the slightest chance it pushes the blame elsewhere.
Get a grip, face reality (an ironic remark, I know) and face the consequences of your actions like an adult.

Vtubers fought for that tag, they spend hard earned money for models, rigging, and people who aren't vtubers co-opting the tag for their own gain needs to be stopped.

The lack of action taken against this issue has lead to VTubers and content creators under the tags that are misused to be pushed further down. People who actually belong in the categories the tag their streams with deserve exposure and recognition. They shouldn’t have to fight being pushed down the list by people deepthroating their mic calling it “ASMR”. Twitch do better ://
