Implement an Account Grading System
For the protection of streamers and to ease the duty of mods, it would be helpful to have some type of account grading system in place. For instance, users who have a history of being banned from channels will have a particular account grade assigned to their account.
This account grade will be viewable when a user in chat and/or a mod clicks their user name in chat.
For example, let's use account grades A-F.
Of course a healthy account that hasn't received any account bans from any channels throughout the entire Twitch platform will receive an A grade.
Accounts that have been banned, had bans removed, received multiple reports, etc, from multiple channels will receive an F grade.
What are the Benefits to This System?
Well, when an account is banned, it no longer can chat in the channel and can be removed from the streamers followers list. That we know. However, when that same account approaches another stream, that streamer has no idea of the behavior of that particular account across the platform.
With this type of system in place, a mod can view this information and be further prepared on how to deal with the situation.
How can this help promote a positive community within Twitch?
If people are graded based on their behavior within a community, they will, in most cases, strive to be better.
For example, if a person who has a low rank within the grading system, approaches a community that has strong positive community guidelines, they will be less likely to jeopardize their current rank. Know that, if they receive just another temp ban, perm ban or report, it can submit an alert to twitch and the account can be up for suspension.
What About False Reporting?
That's a great question! This system will allow a way for Twitch to easily navigate the history of reports received for that account. If, by any chance, false reporting takes place, these set of breadcrumbs will easily allow Twitch to back track, connect, and investigate the matter. Streamers and/chatters who engage or encourage others to participate in false reporting, especially on a massive level, should be automatically up for investigation and have their accounts suspended.
Any Perks for This Type of Grading System?
I think this grading system should only be in place to encourage positive behavior within Twitch. Think of it as a pat on the back. However, the suggestion is always there!
This is in all efforts to create a safer environment for streamers and viewers throughout the entire platform.
