adding 2fa to chat as optional filter
Enable 2FA as a chat optional requirement for users to be required to have 2fa before typing in a users stream chat. This would drastically reduce the number of times a banned user will try to evade a ban to harass a streamer / disrupt chat.
On top of this it would drastically increase awareness on 2fa. Being optional it wouldn't force people or streamers to turn it on or use it. This could also help people who have 18+ Mature content streams reduce the number of people under 18 from engaging.
As 2fa already exists within the twitch platform and is required for affiliated/partnered streamers enabling this to a chat setting would be pretty easy for a developer to add into a code
Its already clearly a pretty popular idea

Hey all,
Thanks so much for your feedback and comments on this topic. Today we’re updating our suite of moderation tools by adding phone-verified chat and expanding the settings for email verification, to help Creators better control their chat experience and improve security. Both Creators and Mods will be able to set the verification requirements for a channel and there are varying levels you will be able to set so it best suits your community. Unlike 2FA, which requires you to enter a code each time you sign in, you’ll only have to verify a phone number and/or email once to be considered verified for chat across Twitch. For more information please refer to our blog post from earlier today: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/09/29/securing-your-chat-with-phone-and-email-verification/
We’ve spent many months building, testing and refining this tool, and while this is far from the last update on our roadmap to improve Creator safety, we’re optimistic about the impact it can have in making a safer Twitch. As always we would love to hear your feedback about these changes.

id love to add on to this to even include:
only allow raids from users who have 2fa enabled on accounts as well (or disable raids/hosts from non affiliates) -

this has become a necessity with the unprecedented quantity and persistence of hate raids on the platform
it is your duty to act quickly and decisively, and provide us the tools needed to protect ourselves

Do, it, twitch, asap!

This is an excellent idea and would make me feel a lot safer on twitch

Absolutely needed right now.

Give users the chance to protect themselves preemptively rather than just waiting to be hit by malicious actors and hoping to deal with it as it happens

This idea was prompted in 2020, nearly a year ago. Why is it that it's taken nearly a year of critical/horrific harassment towards POC/marginalized streamers for this to start gaining traffic again?
This idea is a good measure to try and stop the CONSIDERABLE regular harassment occurring on your platform. "We hear your concerns" isn't action. This implementation is action.

This safety measure would ensure that real people are behind accounts and keep communities safe from bad faith actions like: hate raids, view botting, trolling, harassment.

Please give creators the option of securing their chat!

That idea I can get behind o_O

Absolutely wanting this to be implemented, give streamers the protection that should be a standard option.

Co-Signing ++ CAPTCHA

Way to miss the message, Twitch. Not as an optional chat filter. As a filter to the stream. Give content creators the power to protect themselves from bots and other issues, not just create a chat buffer.
Bad thread merge.

Co-signing this. While I'm here, I should mention that CAPTCHA should be a part of the account creation process. The fact that it isn't - in 2021 - is somewhat astounding.

things need to change or else it will get worse

The fact that this is not already an option is baffling.

This would lead to harassment decreasing dramatically and create a much safer space for POC and LGBTQIA+ streamers and watchers alike. Again, it's completely optional, so I see no reason not to implement it.
