Lockdown Twitch API I think it is time to deny API access to all unverified bots/extensions. Malicious users are creating bots that are using the API to target streamers when they go live by hate raiding, follow botting, and now spamming other channels with malicious stream advertising messages in an attempt to get their targets banned.
All of this goes away by requiring bots and extensions seeking to be added to the platform go through a review process.
If Twitch doesn't have the resources to properly staff such an effort, crowdsource the review process.
Something must be done, doing nothing is no longer…

Bot Question I'm a mod, but we worry about bots in our streams. Should be take a lot of time to research which follows are bots? Finding the bots among the many thousands of legit follows is hard and time consuming. Is it worth it for us to take the time and search for bots? Thanks in advance!

Content match but to catch spam bots. How about:
1. Set up a system to analyze users reported for being suspicious of being a bot in a chat.
2. Said system allows the person reporting to select one or more recent chat messages from said user.
3. The chat message gets added to a staff-curated list of spam messages. The curated list runs a check behind the scenes (maybe via a JS that already does the "sending message" mechanics).
4. If the message matches the list, the account is flagged for investigation and the message is shadow-banned (the message appears for the sender, but anybody else won't…1 vote -

Viewcount should ONLY include people who are in the channel Twitch currently allows rampant view-botting because the view count includes embedded twitch apps in external websites. This creates a huge imbalance and unfair playing field for streamers who dont cheat.
Nobody watches streams from external websites. They go there for info on any topic and are automatically counted as a viewer. Just think of the ways this can be exploited. I see it all the time on Twitch.
The biggest way people discover streams is by who has the highest view count. This is a critical number that should be honest.
After you fix this part of viewbotting, then we…

Additional Account Security I recently was follow botted again. A pretty recent update to twitch security added the option of only allowing verified accounts to type in chat. I believe we need an option that goes a step further to prevent follow bots entirely. The option is simple. Please give the streamer the option of requiring a verified phone number to follow their stream. That would remove any chance of someone follow botting because they will not have hundreds of verified accounts. And if they did they could be easily identified and dealt with.

Passive bots in viewers Some streamers have been using bots for years. Bots are sitting in the viewer list with female nicknames and avatars. Those who come to their channel end up on the restream of the owner of the bot network. These streams run around the clock and their owners use hundreds of bots, automatikly sending them to EVERY stream.Twitch does nothing. For example, such a network of bots (date is time of report):

Spam Bot Ads and Spam Follow Bot Usual Spam Bots, the last in time "Bigfollow"
Use anti-bot system with algorythms to detect these kind of bot, who the the same sentence with variations, characters variations, space variations, etc...
Twitch detection should learn and create auto-detection for them :
a user enter a channel, post one message and leave, enter another channel, post the same message (or same message with variation) and leave..the last spam bot is easy to detect, because they use the same keyword in their sentence variations : Bigfollow
Twitch please use an auto-detection, and ban them.
And allow users to the new words…17 votes -
Solution for bot raiding / hosting / following Here is the solution for bot raiding and bot following.
Here is a screenshot from control panel. I think it would be easy to just add one more option for "FOLLOWING / Raiding / Hosting" like you cant follow / raid / host this channel because your account doesnt have at least one month or more from creation
My channel is spanish based language, so excuse me for the spanish language in the screenshot.

Give streamers the option to lock functions behind set criteria. We've all noticed the follow bot/hate raid stuff lately and quite frankly this is getting tiresome. I have some simple ideas that'll help with these issues that should keep the community safer than they already are.
Allow users to disable the ability for follows to happen on their channel without the following account already being verified/enabling 2FA, or even exist for a set amount of time, a time chosen by the user. Could be 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, etc.
Give users the option to disable hosts and raids from any users that that haven't verified their account/have enabled…

Not enough to make Twitch to a safe place Hello Twitch and other readers
unfortunatly many bot-accounts are around and new one are creating at the moment. Some friends, other streamers are targeted with attacks with bot-accounts.
They have something to do from your side twitch, specially that some Bots have tools to get the IP from people who visit the Accountpage ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdyBV3Zoa0Y ) should be a signal for u to investigate fast as possible.
In the last few days/weeks i experience that hoss00312 are around i followed (and unfollowed) me with multiple accounts.
What do you suggest to do, when people experience something like that? I know…4 votes -
Allow only selective bot to be in chat and auto ban all other bots as they arrive Could you have the ability to list the bots (Streamer approved bot list) that are allowed to be in that streamer's channel and then for all other bot account to be auto ban the moment they start watching.
As a mod I have been using https://twitchinsights.net/bots to check if accounts are bots and then banning any that show up as bots before they talk in chat. The Hoss bot is just creating so many account it disrupting many streams now.
Also could you have another setting to alow streams to chose to have any account that is watching more than…

Hate Raids I have been working on a solution for the hate raids problem, a problem that led streamers into going for a strike. I have been able to come up with a solution which I believe could solve the problem.
The solution has to deal with using the Channel-Banned Terms Filter.First, we gather other alphabet (Greek, Latin, etc.) and signs that look like the English alphabet and arrange them based on the alphabet they look like, basically creating an array for each English alphabet and the letters that look like them.
Second, we write code that is able to swap…

Shadowban Bots by pattern Should be simple: have something similar to automod check for known and reported bot messages and their pattern. If it matches, rather than blocking or reporting the account automatically, just cause the suspicious message to be hidden from anyone but the sender.
Additionally, after 1 month of their infraction, lock the suspect's account and try to make a direct contact with them.
Another thing to do would be to change Verified → Partner and create an actual Verified Account status that marks accounts that are confirmed to be actual users rather than bots.

Third party websites recording chat logs Logs should only be available to the moderation team and the existence of third party websites that are using bots to constantly save chatlogs represents a potential security problem for the user. They shouldn't be publicly available
In this specific case I'm talking about, https://logs.ivr.fi/ that uses a twitch irc bot easily available in, https://github.com/gempir/justlog
I hope there is a way to control this or at least make it harder to setup.

Analysis of a Hate Raid Bot account & Technical Solutions to Solve this Problem I'm a Twitch moderator for 3 small Affiliate streamers. I'm also a former tech support escalations agent for multiple companies & have a business degree, & I do free small business consulting to help small streamers reach Affiliate, start their streaming business, & grow their own communities on Twitch, because I think people have potential to work for themselves doing a job they enjoy & that Twitch has a lot of potential to be a platform to help them do it.
It was the community potential that made me spend the last 10 months learning the platform to help others…

Hate Raids and how to do better First off I wanna thank RekItRaven for Shedding so much light on this issue that has been occurring for years. I have just started streaming 8 months ago and this is my 4th time this year getting hate raided. I’ve been called almost everything in the book. Now I have several ideas on how to make this better but for starters. You Need to obey the Blocked/Banned Order. Anyone who is Blocked Or Banned should not be able to Hate watch us thus risking another hate raid whether that be in the form of bullying or racism. 2. Have Better…

Random Follows and Unfollows attacks. Lately, I've been getting a ton of "follows" and "unfollows" from fake accounts that run streams spams or advertising some random malware or whatever it is that they're promoting. It's been consistent every day about 2-3 times a day. Visiting their page they all run the same video feed. And has the same text link on their screen to some external link.
Usually has some "manolia" name in their twitch name. But now starting to notice a wave of different random naming conventions instead.
I suggest that you guys create some sort of detection software that checks for massive follows…

Followbot marker When we are follow botted we get massive follows within seconds of each other, please mark these in a diffrent color so if we want we can remove them manually or ban them easily. This alone will help build up a tracking system with twitch being able to ID the main user name as it will appear the most and ban it to help others with being spammed.
