5. Community Challenges

   I have just completed my first Community Challenge with the viewers in my community and met the goal. The issue now is that I finish the goal and do not know who contributed the most channel points and I want to know who did because I have three prizes but now way to know who gets 1st, 2nd, &3rd.

   I wish that the challenges would show the amount of the points used per viewer in my channel in a point break down to simplify it, rather me having to realize that I would have to manually track the channel points per viewer and the giveaway is now "complete".

   Please can Twitch come up with a way for streamers to view or see the amount they used and who? Maybe this is an idea you can integrate in it.

6. Cancel paid boost

   Baiting Twitch users to pay money on behalf of their favorite streamers to boost discoverability is a bad idea and an unethical idea. It only unfairly furthers an existing advantage over other channels by exploiting community members’ good faith willingness to pay to support the streamer, and it does not make up for any deeper existing discoverability and usability failings. There is a consensus on social media that users understand this is a detriment to Twitch overall. If it doesn’t work as intended, they are wasting their money. But if it does work as intended, it greatly compromises the integrity of the platform.

   This appears to be a feature designed based on the propensity for already paying users to pay more. It capitalizes upon the money-making potential of the already more successful minority of channels, with poor chances of making any meaningful growth impact whatsoever to other communities. If, as of now, anyone can earn channel points on an equal playing field, it only turns money into leverage for those willing/able or susceptible enough to spend it. The paid boost itself seems intended to take advantage of people with a willingness to pay extra for the mere theoretical possibility of supporting a streamer’s channel with more exposure.

   Exposure alone is not valuable. Historically, it’s not worth channel points, and it’s not worth wagering real-world currency. Increasing impressions will often not make a difference across most KPIs. Presumably, it will not meaningfully increase unique viewers, based on how users traverse the site. And by extension, it certainly won’t lead to sustained increase in concurrent views, new follows, nor an eventual paid subscription. The vast majority of users who are exposed to a boosted stream, wherever or however they see it, are no more likely to click on it because it was “boosted.” Even if they know why it’s boosted, what is that supposed to mean from their perspective? This is assuming they are even made aware of it among other options presented to them. And that would be the best case scenario.

   The more likely scenario is that the paid boosts result in no meaningful increase in impressions, and even more likely, no meaningful increase in clickthrough rates. What difference does boost make already? Apparently none, according to many streamers and viewers alike, but expecting users to pay is expected to make it work better in some way? Users who “test” this feature will have thrown away their money in the hope that maybe their money will make a difference. Some users will hope for the best, while most will probably avoid it, but relatively few users will recognize exactly how small the yield will be and why.

   The value of their “support” cannot be meaningfully correlated to money spent, which makes encouraging them to spend their money difficult to justify. Or, alternatively, if hypothetically, the boost feature did consistently work as intended, ensuring that success could be bought or bid upon on the platform is entirely unethical and can irreversibly undermine the integrity of the platform. Just the notion of this “feature” alone is damaging, and a nearly unanimous and emphatic community reaction on social media has hopefully made that sentiment known. Twitch users have been voicing they don’t need this change and they don’t want it.

   Making it possible for users to pay for what is normally a free feature is certainly not a convenience. It’s certainly not an improvement to it, nor a solution to its shortcomings. When users say they want the boost to be more effective, they are not asking for it to cost money out of their pocket. When users say they want the boost to be more effective, they are trying to tell Twitch that this “feature” is not working, and needs to be fixed; when Twitch’s idea of a “solution” is to make users pay, it is sending the message that users have to fix it.

   Suggestion: cancel planned testing/launching this change as it favors paid inorganic growth over organic growth in ways that hurt the community as a whole. Explore iteration of existing channel points boost with user facing experience that demonstrates transparency and fair play, while investigating optimizations to underlying technical mechanisms that power it in order to make it more effective. User recommendations must be based on user engagement and presented with transparency to encourage trust and in order to be effective.

7. Paid promotion via boost trains

   I worry about the boosting system overtaking the current recommended system and missing an opportunity of a lifetime here.
   Over the years I have met many people because the recommended list shows people on my channel to people who frequent other streams that have followers/viewers from my stream.
   this is a very nice and organic way of promoting people.

   I start to see how this new system will only favour the people who have the biggest spenders, as I can see that over time the organic method will be overrun by paid promotions and not relevant to what the viewers want to watch. this will give loads of click-through, sure. what's better for everyone is retention. people are more likely to stay and spend on a streamer if they like them.

   If boosts are only temporary (24h) or until a fatcat overtakes your boost level then let's say the $300 your community spent in the boost train was for nothing. :(

   If it's just the number of heads, I feel that this is missing an opportunity.
   How do you know that the account being recommended has an active viewer? Again this is only profiting the streamers that are getting huge amounts spent on them.
   If 10% of the people recommended actually click you and then only 1-2% stay, this is a VERY small number of people.

   What I'm getting at here is that if boosts were a site-wide leaderboard and you could look them up like you could search for hype trains even better their own category within each game category.

   Every bit spent is to boost your streamer higher up the list for that month. This would be a huge incentive for people spending as it's about promoting the streamer they are supporting, knowing that for every gifted sub, bit, super chat ripoff is going towards promoting them!!
   This is HUGE! this would help the discovery issues people have on twitch. If per game category you have boosted streamers.

   Yes, this favours the bigger channels and those that stream more, lets's be real here it's all about money! This also allows the smaller streamer that gets a huge dono/train to get to the top from time to time! keeping things fresh.
   You then have the people that have more free cash have the ability to play the system a little.. how cool is that for a month?

   You could then look in the xxxxxx games and see what stream has the most boosts this month.. making it a competition between streamers for the top position! awesome!
   let's say you are #1 for 6 months then you get a main page promo day or a featured spot at the top of the boots category as a thank you.
   Or something similar, it's all automated so it is not like this take any extra work from anyone.

   I just don't want to see paid boosts take over the recommended list!
   It's hard enough to be discovered on twitch as it is, we don't need the only way to be squed over money when there are MUCH better ways of making more and serving the right goal.

   The paid boosting feature is unethical and engineers around the problem that the current algorithm serves content in a way that is both obfuscated from participants yet is clearly biased towards extremely large partnered streamers and/or divisive content.

   Instead deliver content that appeals to individual viewers based on their viewing habits and adjust the front page and the algorithm:
   - Partnered Streamers Recommended for you x3
   - Affiliate Streamers Recommended for you x3
   - New for you x6 (2 partner, 2 affiliate, 2 any) streams of varying size and varying content type

   similarly for the search and category views of live channels allow additional filtering features based on stream size, time live so those who want to explore smaller streamers in a large category can do so without doomscrolling

9. Not force users to have to pay for exposure

   I noticed on twitter / the live stream about changes to twitch. There is some kind of thing where you can pay for more exposure? Not only is this inherently greedy, it's classist about up and coming streamers who are up and coming, buring them further into obscurity. You guys taking all the money ontop of that for this service is disgusting. Fix your algorithm instead of trying to line your pockets. Fix the hate raids on streamers of color. Actually implement something of meaning so that streamers can feel safe and not stressed about bots who spam slurs and terrible things.

   Smaller streamers should have an opportunity to grow and this will push them back even farther, alienate them, all for the sake of lining your own pockets? This greed is abhorrent and disgusting. Actually take care of your users.

    El tren de la promoción es una buena herramienta que ayuda a que los espectadores se suscriban o donen suscripciones / bits al creador de contenido.

    En mi caso lo he tenido durante algo más de 1 mes, pero hay un problema.
    Un día, de repente, dejó de funcionar. Contacté con el soporte live y me comentaron que lo solucionaron, pero me pusieron el tren del hype en vez de el tren de promoción como estaba antes.

    Sería ideal que se disponga del tren de promoción, ya que ayudaba a que los espectadores quieran apoyar al creador más aún

    if the boost feature is added, won’t it benefit bigger streamers rather than smaller ones? i think it needs to be beneficial for them too.

14. Base on ALL Points Spent (Boost this stream)

    Instead of asking our viewers to choose between fun and promoting the stream, make the boost passive and based on ANY points spent during a stream.

    As it stands, the system is creating a conflict of interest - particularly for channels that are solely powered on Channel Points.

15. Forget boost

    I wish you and the team would stop trying to push features like this. Instead of having a "boost" feature, why not work on a better way to make smaller content creators to be discovered?

    Many have resulted in branching out to other social media and content creation platforms in order to funnel more viewers into twitch because of the over saturation of streams. Look at how addictive YouTube and Tik Tok are... Also look at how easy they are to just continuously browse and find new content. These are the things you should be focused on.

    Honestly, Small streamers should be randomized on the "streamers you might like" section so everyone can get a little more outreach to new viewers. it should not be something that needs to be boosted.

    Stop sorting your categories by number of views, randomize it. Keep your partners at the top, sure. there are only about 27,000 partners and wont overtake each gaming category.

    Give clips it's own browsing page where potential viewers can browse clips by most popular, most recent, and give us the ability to add tags so that they can be targeted to a specific audience. An algorithm that will help people find clips that the individual might be interested in by targeting what they were searching.

    Much more I can say, but let's just keep it at this for now.

16. boosttrain emote rewards

    The new Boosttrain feature is very confusing. It only happens in smaller streams, where the chance is less likely that the streamer and their viewers do not have all Hype emotes yet, and does not give much incentive to the viewers, as everyone knows, just because the stream will be recommended to a lot of people, doesn't mean these people will actually click / letalone stay after just stopping by one time. according to this,https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/603009355234672652/956584929809018920/unknown.png , boosttrains are supposed to happen as an extra incentive, not a replacement to regular hypetrains, but the boosttrains I have experienced so far did not drop any of the hype emotes for anyone in chat. I like supporting streamers but if anything, this new boosttrain feature makes me participate in such events less than already.

17. Longer Boost Time

    I am no where close to being a partner, and this happened for me (average 12 viewers). I was so amazed when I got the oppurtunity for this. It was a bit tough to reach the goal, but you have 2 days. When I completed the Boost challenge it made my stream boost to 56 viewers. It only last about 10 mins. I feel like if this is going to be a thing, let the small streamer enjoy the Boost a little longer. I do not feel this option should be for partners.

18. Two-part data analysis to better gauge efficacy of boosts and reduce bias

    Evidently in trying to collect data on the optimal way to implement the Boost feature, there's a group of streamers that are getting the boosts and others that are not. This makes sense but to reduce bias, it may be needed to have a second part data collection where the group that did not get any boosts get the boosts instead, and compare the results from the two parts. This can help identify any biases, if any, and will be more fair (and thus reduce dissatisfaction of smaller streamers that we're seeing).

19. Let the streamer choose when the boost happens

    So I like the idea, but just a few tweaks. I like how the challenge can just pop up and we have a couple days to complete it, but upon completion can we save the boost for the future? I got the challenge on my "friday" so I felt compelled to make sure I completed it within the time frame forcing me to stream on my day off. I did complete it but then the boost happened right away. I would love to see it for the next stream where I can prepare for it, kind of like a front page thing? Maybe make the boost last longer than 2 minutes also =) Thanks

20. Stream boosting

    How about @Twitch adds 5 more levels to hype trains. The more support a hype train gets, the more boosted a channel gets as a reward. Use boosting as an incentive to support a channels hype train (On top of the already exclusive emotes already gained). That way viewers are supporting creators, creators are making money, and Twitch makes more money via higher tiered hype trains. Everyone’s happy. #bladesideas
