  1. Since Amazon, the owner of Twitch is wealthy, why not use said wealth on buying licenses to use music on stream and on VODs as well.

  2. Create an extension that will allow a streamer to connect to their music source (Spotify, Amazon Music, etc.) and have it as a separate audio stream from their live stream audio (voice/game audio). This would allow content creators and Twitch to simply mute or delete the music stream from VOD's that have DMCA related issues, while allowing the streamer's content to remain available.

  3. The editor of a channel should get the ability (or be given the ability at the approval of the streamer) to review and submit counter claims on muted audio and claimed clips/VODs. This would allow the editor to be able to provide additional editing support of VODs and clips.

  4. Proposal: All DMCA strike appeals within 30 days, or another concrete time period. Twitch must have an avenue for creators to submit proof of license for copyrighted music, which should also have a mandatory maximum 30 days review period. Note: This should be accompanied by an additional 'bad actor' appeal option.

An example from my experience: I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat, but I have purchased lifetime stream rights to broadcast a song made by a small creator. I have provided twitch with that information. I have appealed every muted audio...for months. I even received a…

  5. What to do to avoid a strike if a music author gave me permisison to listen to his/her musical production while streaming on twitch ? Of course I mean permission with proof like message screenshots etc. and no money involved.

  7. I think that an App could be created where we could check if the music is copyrighted.
And if that were found the app would generate the information and a link where the music could be purchased. To put over the screeb Like this:

    Song: Holiday
    Artist: Madonna
    Copyright By Sony
    Can be purchased on Amazon

  8. I think, Twitch or the owner of the song coulding put a small note over the live transmition telling viewers that they are the owner of he song. And the song also could be buying at Amazon or somewhere else clicking on the info. In my case Im an old Dj with more de 50 years and I use to play most 70 and 80 and sometimes my guests ask for the name of the song. If there is a link maybe they can be get interesed go out there to buy.

  9. DMCA Strikes could be avoided if plagiarism was better explained to streamers.

According to Stephanie Morrow, in her article "Plagiarism: What is it, Exactly?": Plagiarism is a confusing subject, and can often occur without the artist knowing it until it is too late.

If you use another person's work and do not attribute that work to the author, including copying text verbatim, paraphrasing a phrase or summarizing an idea, [or playing a song in the background of your stream], you are essentially committing plagiarism. Plagiarism usually occurs when a writer fails to:

  10. A PRS license would allow copyright holders to get a piece of revenue from it, that sounds fair?

Could we stream copyrighted music if that happened?

  11. DMCA is in the long and short run a USA policy that does not cover or attempt to handle a International Audiance. As Twitch needs to change to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Orginization) standards like YouTube, Netflix and other companies. Mind you the WIPO does respect the DMCA but unlike that policy was founded and created with a international audience in mind. Numerous counties, and the US is inculded, do recognize the WIPO as being fully legal and binding for international copyright issues.

A good example of this is Viacom vs YouTube. Viacom used DMCA against YouTube in a lawsuit…

  12. Se eu toco uma música com direitos autorais, mas possuo o direito do autor para utilizar sua música. Como eu faço se meu vod for mutado? O que preciso para comprovar que tenho o direito do autor para tocar suas músicas?

  13. We really need to come up with something that allows streamers to play any kind of music they want and watchers to post song requests without having content deleted or the creators having to deal with strikes/bans/etc, because it was half, if not a big chunk, of the fun of twitch. I loved being able to share my favorite music with the streamers I like to watch, but now I can't do that because of this DMCA nonsense. Part of the fun with video games is inserting your own background music, and that should be able to be shared with…

  15. "The vast majority of our creators don’t have recorded music as a part of their streams"
I'd like to know the data this claim is based on.

  16. I agree we as streamers need to be more responsible for what we broadcast. But having a VOD muted or content removed without full understanding of the reason isn't useful. I have had VODs mutes for in-game content, but I couldn't figure out what could possibly trigger such an action. Please, help us do better.

  18. I think it’s ridiculous that you aren’t letting us listen to our favourite artist that we like we pay for song to listen to and we can keep forever so that does make us that we own it cause we pay the artist and we are giving them credit for there music if we stream it or not I think this whole copyright stuff is going to far

  19. There needs t be some kind of leniency for people who receive DMCA strikes due to in-game music. We should not be forced to play games without music due to an overreaching rule by the greedy music companies.

  20. Some of us smaller streamers and even the bigger streamers. We like to play some chilled music but with DMCA we cannot do that anymore and we have to rely on just normal game sound. And sometimes the music in the game in poo poo an we do not like it. So that is why we have our own list of music. So anyway we can fix this?
