How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. In addition to box art, id love to see the actual game cart / disc label hosted. Actual carts themselves could be problematic as scan/photo/image quality would vary wildy, but if we could have high quality representations of the label, it could be simple to add to a clean template cartridge to display. See how screenscraper does it under the label heading for an example of what i mean: https://www.screenscraper.fr/gameinfos.php?plateforme=14&gameid=5441

  2. Very happy to see Delisted added to the Status options. If possible, it would be nice to also allow for documenting the date in which a title was removed from online storefronts, similar to how Offline Status allows users to document the date online functionality was shut down.

However, even when documented, Offline Status's Date does not currently show on the standard entry page, so this probably is a double request in that case.

  3. I wasn't sure what to use for this and I think that's the point. Puzzle titles like Tetris, Pong, Breakout, and the like are very hard to define in terms of a Theme based on the choices available.

An Abstract Theme might be the best case in these situations.

Hi! We talked about adding this theme, and we all agreed that it's a good idea. We just have to write clear guidelines around it. We are looking to add this as soon as possible. Thanks!

  4. When sorting lists by Release Date, titles missing ones are often sorted to the front as future titles, or to identify ones that need a Release Date added. However, cancelled titles never hope to come out, and therefore never will have a date. Ability to disable this setting, or identify the time it was announced as cancelled could alleviate this problem, over a permanent TBA or TBD.

  5. Pick topics on how to review a game

    example
    20% gameplay
    80% soundtrack

don't ask the user for a final score determine the total score based on each category

does not have to be my idea though just upvote this if you wanna see a more robust review system

  6. Both Castlevania for the N64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness are missing from the Categories menu of Twitch, but they are not missing from IGDB's site. I have spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out how to inform someone, ANYONE, of this (admittedly small) oversight and ended up here.

There has to be a better way to inform Twitch/IGDB of problems of this nature than to wander aimlessly around the Twitch help section, then give up and use the feedback forum, hoping that a relatively minor fix will be noticed by someone with the power and…

    Hey there!

For all things IGDB it is best to come to us directly rather than via Twitch help. Our preferred way is via Discord :)

    Discord: discord.gg/igdb
    Contact form: https://www.igdb.com/feedbacks/new
    Twitter: https://twitter.com/IGDBcom

Regarding the Twitch categories, while IGDB provides the data but what ends up there is decided by Twitch itself. In the case of Castlevania it is due to the fact Twitch is not ingesting Versions of games at this time. We are however working on expanding the data set so that they can become categories. Stay tuned!

  7. The Multiplayer Modes seem to have a theme when you look over the options available in Categorization. Almost all of them include specific special cases for some form of Co-op or shared Split-Screen, but none for LAN Competitive.

The most obvious examples I can think of would be the GBA Link cables for local LANs such as the Sonic games, or the Ad-hoc/WiFi features of the PSP, 3DS and others where these aren't Co-op modes or Split Screen, but Linked and Competitive.

  10. As means of promoting game editing, there could be a game recommendation for the user. It would be based on the game pages the user visited, the games the user rated, etc. A notification could appear on the website with the recommendation, and there could be a place in "Karma hunters" for some more recommendations.
It would certainly help with many more game info missing, as the person would be prompted to help with something they most probably know.

  11. There are alot of titles that seem to list multiple divisions as publishing arms for each region. While this can make sense for Developers like Ubisoft Montreal or Shanghai that are responsible for the creation of the game, it makes less sense for Publishers that serve as regional PR wings.

Ex. "Sega" vs Sega of Japan, Sega of America, Sega of Europe.

  13. I did a quick advanced search of games, which I wanted to share with my freind. But the URL does not display any filtering. It would be cool if we could click share link and it would create a link I can give to him so it shows him my filtered list. The only work around I have is to screenshot the page and send him the image.

  14. I really don't like the way that IGDB completely closes a submission upon rejection and erases everything, requiring it to be recreated. Not being able to appeal an uninformed decision without having to redo work really sucks and discourages me from submitting content to the database. Sometimes, my submissions are removed without any given reason, and more often than not they're removed over something I could have easily provided a source/clarification for rather than having to rewrite everything.

I would like to have the option of having a dialogue with an admin before a submission is obliterated from the site.

  15. Hi guys!! I search about a filter by oficial games but I'm not found :(
Maybe this filter is interesting, because right now the API returns a lot of non oficial games from the list.

    Thankssss <3

  17. Currently only seven classification systems are supported, even though this may cover a "majority" of Classification Systems around the world, at least six classification systems are missing out and some are important to several cultures strict guidelines and customs,

Hi and thank you for your suggestion. These would be interesting to add in the future, but before we do that we want to make sure that we have a good coverage of the ratings that we recently added. After that, we can look into adding more. Thank you!

  18. Currently when you're adding a Classification rating to games you cannot find a link to search for the title on the available classification system whether that be GRAC, ACB, ESRB, PEGI, CERO, USK or CLASSIND, I think it would be beneficial to have a link next to the titles, for example; "USK (German Standard) - Search For Title Here", the text "Search For Title Here" would be a link to the following URL: "https://usk.de/en/?s&jump=usktitle&post_type=usktitle" or another example; "ClassInd (Brazilian Standard) - Search For Article Here", where the text "Search For Article Here" would be a link to the…

  19. I don't thing it's a good thing that you greyed out the options to add an upcoming game as "Played" or "Playing". Many of these games have demos or betas available to try them and we won't be able to track them.

  20. I think the "Want" and "Playing" options are good as they can get, but when it comes to "Played", I think it should be more than that.
    * There are games that I've beaten and/or completed
    * There are games that I started to play, but then I stopped playing and won't get back
    * There are games that I started to play, and took a break from, but I'm planning to get back to them eventually

I don't know the best way to present these buttons on the game pages. For example, when you click the "Played" button, then…
