Badges/Emotes

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

  1. Hi there,

Despite Twitch being all about the content that is created and streamed, I believe emotes serve a very important role in both communication and representation on other streams without being pure advertising, it's subtle but can really help a streamer grow.

This means that viewers can sometimes arrive from the emotes alone, and may not enjoy the content, and so the streamer and viewer will both miss out, the viewer doesn't want to pay a full subscription for the emotes alone, and the streamer will miss out on the revenue from a potential purchase.

    I propose a middle…

  2. Let us see the stats of our emotes to know which ones are used the most and used the least, so if we want to change them or ad new we can keep the most used by our community and change the less popular for new ones to try.

  3. Have someone available to explain why emotes are rejected or taken down because the given reasons don’t make sense when the emote doesn’t reflect the reason.

I have had the same emote either rejected or taken down on different occasions due to nudity or sexualized content. When I try to see if someone can talk to me about what needs to be changed I get the run around.

If Twitch is going to take down one type/subtype, take ALL of them down, not just the POC ones.

  4. hello, From being with twitch for 3-4 years i start to think maybe for twitch turbo and non twitch turbo we should have this emote XD as well with those other emote of the smiles and etc. Reason is most phones has that emote and other devices so why not have Twitch account Turbo and non Turbo have that emote too. i hope i am not alone with this idea and not alone who is thinking this too. 7. With all the new badges coming, and with the addition of the recent Affiliate badge, I suggest a special badge for the dedicated moderators of the community.

For example, if a user moderates a stream/stream in which the follower count reaches a certain number then the moderator would be given a special badge to signify that they're experienced mods, or if a person reaches a certain amount of commands made/timeouts made they're given the badge. Something like that.

I spend a lot of time moderating over 15 streams with 5,000+ followers each, and I'd love to have a cool badge…

  8. When "Use Custom Badge for This Channel" has been selected, don't replace it with hype train conductor or gift leader badges. I don't want to select my preferred badge again my badge is replaced by something else.

  9. Emotes "TwitchConHYPE" makes me very uncomfortable. Is there any way to let it not shown for me?

  10. Why?: To keep creators creating content and spending less time managing emotes

    How:

Easy: Implement a field on the emote information to add info like "Halloween" or "Christmas" so we can filter emotes by seasons when changing seasonal emotes

Hard: Program the dashboard to automatically swap emotes based on dates, that way once the emote get's uploaded the creator can designate a date or dates for when the emote should be active.

  12. I think that 5 artist badges is too few. Many streamers have multiple artists for emotes, png/vtuber models, riggers, overlays, brb & starting soon screens. Especially considering that you can have significantly more VIP & Moderators than 5, it seems strange to limit the artists you'd like to recognize to only 5.

  13. Emotes are a big part of the Twitch experience, and many streamers have different emotes for different occasions (special themed streams, certain games, holidays, etc.).

Instead of having to manually swap out emotes individually, being able to create sets/groups and then being able to toggle between them would save a lot of time. Additionally, it would be great if this ability to toggle sets/groups could be added to the Emotes API.

Another option would be to offer Emotes API which allows Emotes to be individually swapped between active/inactive slots (which would allow streamers to create sets/groups without the feature being…

  14. After a user changes their username, it is currently not possible for a streamer or other chatters to identify a user who may have recently changed their name or what their previous name was. This makes the interactions with both streamers and chat after changing your name difficult. Other platforms have already implemented features that can identify a user by both a new and previous handle.

The idea would be to have a temporary global badge applied to users who elect to perform a username change. The badge could be switched off on a per-channel basis (or entirely) using the…

  15. To support and showcase the Twitch charity feature, add two new global badges: one for any streamer who hosted a charity stream and raised funds (with different levels of the badge, perhaps, for amount raised across all fundraisers on their channel), and one for any viewer who has donated to any Twitch charity fundraiser (again, perhaps with levels based on total amount donated across all fundraisers).

  16. Change chat identity to a lower subscripe month.
E.g. you get a 3-Month Chat identity "icon" in "yellow" but you like the "2-Month" Chat identity in "blue" more.

  18. Please let us archive permanent emotes we've unlocked through various promotions.

One jarring example is the HyperScape emotes. The game shut down a year ago, and no amount of spamming HyperCrown will bring it back. Personally, I think I completed the set just by using the site, despite the fact I couldn't get into the game. What happens now though is, every time I want to use a "Hype" emote (eg. eavHype) I have to type in the full name manually because there's no way to break from "Hyper". I personally have no plans of ever using HyperScape emotes, and…

  19. Several channels use third‑party libraries to expand the emotes available. These emotes can be used for free by anyone installing these libraries, and these emotes acts like the viewers are subscribed. These streamers encourage their viewers to install these libraries.

Issues arise where it creates a divide between viewers who have and viewers who don't have these libraries, and having viewers rely on third‑party extensions for their Twitch‑viewing. Some of these libraries are also fighting and creating a worse experience when multiple libraries are combined. Viewers can also install a third‑party Twitch‑app on their phone to see and use these…

  20. Instead of having the option to Subscribe to Tier 2 or 3, add those emote slots to Affiliates' and Partners' inventory. Those options aren't worth the difference in price, I rarely (if ever) see anyone purchase them, and those emote slots would be better used elsewhere.
