Replace the "Pogchamp" emote with moistcr1tikal's "WOOO YEAH BABY" face.
The "Pogchamp" emote has cemented itself as an important piece of Twitch history -- and internet history as a whole due to its steady increase in popularity within the past few years. Although the emote was justly removed due to the negligent actions of the man behind the face, many have expressed that having the emote gone feels like there's a hole in the entirety of internet culture. Although Twitch agrees that the public should not let the spirit of this emote live on as to not draw attention to this man's agenda, I propose a new solution that won't be met with as much contention.
I suggest a brand new universal twitch emote that carries the same spirit as the original emote, but has no ties to the original creator of "Pogchamp". This, being Critical's "WOOOOOOO YEAH BABY" face. (For reference, this face is made on the "penguinz0" YouTube Channel on the video, "The Worst Toy Ever Made" at timestamp 3:55-3:58.)
Some would claim that moistcr1tical has created a modern-day "Pogchamp" as the clip of his "WOOOO YEAH BABY" face spiked in popularity in late 2020. This face perfectly exemplifies the Pogchamp face's original intention and would be a good stand-in now that the emote is no longer.
At first, it may seem counterintuitive to create an emote out of a face that is made on an entirely different platform. I would argue this by commenting on moistcr1tikal's massive twitch following. Critical's Twitch account carries a staggering 2.2 million followers, he actively streams on the platform, and amasses a large audience on each of his streams. Having a fresh and relevant creator be the face of this new emote would be a good way of encouraging users to use this emote without glorifying the original. Additionally, this emote shouldn't have the same name as Pogchamp, rather something else that is repurposed as to not shed light on the original.
By adding this emote to the platform, we can create a repurposed version of the Pogchamp emote under a different name and carry the spirit of what the original emote served for the platform, thereby replacing, and subtly paying homage to an important piece of internet culture.
Hey there,
Thank you so much for this idea, but we are not accepting community submissions for pogchamp.
